First of all, Thank you Dave for thinking of us, the fans outside the US, who generally get forgotten about. I personally think this is a great idea! I'll look at my finances though as it'll be a bit tight even for 6 months notice for me. I'm already starting to save for my brother's wedding in Spring 2012 which will be in Florida which is a whole 18 months away! But I'll look at my finances and we'll make it work somehow. I think it'll be one of those once in lifetime things that I can't miss out on. I really hope this is a goer! So lets all rally behind Dave and get this to become a reality!!! It's GREAT that Jewel wants to do this HOWEVER, I don't really think of this gathering as just another Jewel concert. To me, the purpose of this EDA gathering is for EDAs who have 'known' each other only over the internet for years, to finally meet in person and spend a couple of days with each other AND Jewel. Sort of like a family re-union. In planning a big re-union, you want as many of our family to attend as possible. Some of us are fortunate enough to be able to pick up and go on short notice, but I'm sure there are plenty (who we're not hearing from), who need more time to make arrangements, and quite frankly, save the hundreds of dollars it will take to attend. It looks like there are EDAs from outside the US who will come, but short scheduling might make that impossible. How about Spring of 2011? Texas is beautiful that time of year, and I'm sure attendance would be much better. We'd have enough time to choose a venue which could accommodate any weather for the concert, and maybe even an EDA picnic? How about a nice camp facility with decent hotels nearby? We could even negotiate blocks of rooms at discount prices. A longer date would allow people to schedule carpools, etc. Six months from now will be here in no time. If we're going to do this, let's do it the best we can. I want as many EDAs at this gathering as possible. As far as I know, there's no need to rush into this. Is Jewel willing to participate if we had it in Spring, 2011? Hope so. Even if I didn't get tickets for the show, the EDA vibe might be fun. I have one demand though.... Amy has to come. My girlfriend really wants to meet her, I really want to see her, and I went to NYC last time, so it is her turn. In a message dated 8/31/2010 5:10:29 A.M.
