Today's Subjects: ----------------- [EDA] Review of IN's show (and VIP experience) [Jodi Williams Subject: [EDA] Review of IN's show (and VIP experience) Last night I saw Jewel in Florence IN. It was the first time I had seen her since 2001 and my tenth show. I treated myself the the VIP experience. Here's how it went down. I picked up my VIP envelope at will call around 5pm. Then we had to meet at the merch table in front of the venue at 6pm. (By the way, the merch table was not good. Lot's of old t shirts, the perfectly clear concert poster. her live DVD. The only thing I bought was the recording for the night's show for $20.) There were only 9 of us VIP's which I was very pleased with. Then Amy came to meet us. She took us backstage and showed us the tour buses. The one Jewel and her ride on is all white (it's named it Polaris). Then we got to walk on the stage where her guitars were already set up!! It was neat to see it from her perspective. Finally she took us to a little room where there was a small spread of wince and cheese and our t shirts and signed tour posters (I was a little disappointed that the TShirts were not new. They were the Perfectly Clear acoustic tour shirts- black with blue writing. At least the concert posters were from this tour and signed, but honestly, they were unimpressive too) Amy said Jewel would be in shortly. She said "don't be shy about asking questions. She's really bubbly and will answer them all." After about 5 more minutes, Jewel walked in!!!! My first thought was 'wow, she's tiny". I'm only 5 feet tall and I don't usually think that about people, but I guess I was expecting her to be bigger. Plus she had on flats. Amy told her how we'd already seen the tour buses. She asked if it was what we expecting. That she never knows what people expect. Then she said they had to hide all the drugs and hookers. "Seriously," she said "we're pretty boring. WE were steaming brussel sprouts on the bus the other day". Then they took pictures of all of us with her. Then she signed our items and answered whatever questions we could come up with. I asked her if she was going to keep doing the UStreams. She said she didn't know and asked Amy who didn't seem to know either. I also asked her if she'd play Shape of You that night (Which she did!!!). Then she left. :( We were shown to our seats. We were in row F on a side section. I had assumed we'd be in the front and center, but there were a lot of "important people" from the casino that got most of the good seats. Also, there were a LOT of empty seats during the show. This surprised me because when I bought my husband's ticket and asked for best available, he got the balcony. Luckily he was abel to move and sit by me. Now for the show: Here's the setlist:Near You AlwaysLife UncommonLittle Sisterlots of stories (being homeless, shoplifting, 9-11)HandsSummer Home in Your ArmsTenNo Good in GoodbyeStephenvilleFather's DaughterShape of YouStanding StillIntuitionOn Fire (Bruce Springstein cover with Kip Moore)Kip Moore songFoolish GamesYWMFMSatisfiedHitchhiking story, story about dad at wizard of oz showWWSYSEncore:Funny attempts at yodeling with people's namesChime Bells There was no opening because the casino had a strict curfew (weird, right?) which is why she invited Kip Moore on stage. She told some great stories. Most I'd heard, but she embellished on them a lot. Most of the songs she payed were requests. She commented on how her hardcore fans liked to request songs she didn't know (someone asked for Rocker Girl). Overall it was a great show. I hadn't seen her live in so long and forgot how clear and beautiful her voice sounds live. She defininitely captivated the audience. I was so excited to here father's daughter and shape of you and the springtsein cover. I'm really hoping they come out with some Sweet and Wild tour shirts before this tour is over. If so, I'd like to strike a deal with someone going to a future show to score me one! Well, sorry so lengthy. I'd love to hear about people's experiences at future shows. Let me know if you get instantlive cds and want to trade me!! Jodi _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail has tools for the New Busy.
