She was amazing - it was a tiny venue, maybe 600 seats total. She work black leggings (possibly full black jumpsuit) with a sparkly blue/green sequined top. Meiko was awesome too, first time I'd heard her. Here is the setlist: 1) Somewhere Over the Rainbow ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 1 Nov 2009 15:35:44 -0800 (PST) From: Josie Sianez Subject: [EDA] Jewel in Durham, NC Yikes! Accidentely sent a partial email! OK, let's try that again. I saw Jewel in Durham NC on 10-29-09. She was amazing! The venue was tiny, maybe 600 seats total. I was about 15 rows back. She wore a black jumpsuit (or black leggings) with a blue/green sequined top. Meiko was great too, that was my first time hearing her. Here is the setlist: 1) Somewhere Over the Rainbow - singing as a kid, biker bar story (hiding in the bathroom) 2) Last Dance Rodeo 3) Near You Always 4) Down So Long 5) Life Uncommon - homeless, shoplifting stories, hearing song after 9/11 6) Hands 7) Boy Needs a Bike 8) Rosy and Mick 9) Stephenville, TX 10) Morning Song 11) Stay Here Forever/ Slow Down Together? (new song) 12) Cold Song (with typical intro) 13) Standing Still - family story - grandparents coming over to AK 14) Father's Daughter 15) Hole in My Heart? (new, about Jessica) 16) Everything Breaks 17) Intuition 18) FG 19) YWMFM - hitchhiking through Mexico, dad's jewelry at NY show story, kermit 20) WWSYS Encore: 1) Angel Standing By 2) Chime Bells The audience was full of adoration. There seemed to be some old hands, hollered out a few old songs. I was trying for Summer Home in Your Arms, mine and my husband's song, but oh well. There also seemed to be a lot of new Jewel fans. I got the tour t-shirt since it's the first time she's been to NC in forever, other than with the Brad Paisley tour. She didn't get anyone to come up on stage or anything, and she played the electric guitar for all but the first few songs. SOTR was acapella, of course. It was really hard to video tape, the venue's staff was everywhere, but I managed to audio some stuff. I'll try to post it later this week. Overall it was an awesome show, she looked great and sounded as beautiful as ever! I'll be seeing her in a couple of days. Can hardly wait. Got my Row #1 seats, just a little off center. I like the way you can abbreviate her stories such as, "Kermit," and everyone knows what you're talking about. Maybe we should just assign numbers to her stories. #1 - Hitchhiking down Baja, #2 - Mexican Drug Bust, #3 - Hiding in biker bar bathrooms, etc. It sounds like she's really enjoying this little mini-tour, and the audiences are *her* audiences. That always puts her in a better mood, and she seems to have more fun. Glad you had a good time and thanks for the review.
