Today's Subjects: ----------------- [EDA] Jewel @ San Manuel casino on 3/5/09 [E N ] [EDA] Rare Jewel Anglefood ["Pupecki, Stacy" ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 6 Mar 2009 01:38:37 -0800 From: E N Subject: [EDA] Jewel @ San Manuel casino on 3/5/09 Hi everyone ... I wasn't planning on going to this show but decided at the last minute so I had pretty bad seats. The venue itself is the strangest venue I've ever been to! The setup was just bizarre. It wasn't a theater at all and more like a hotel ballroom or convention center. It was just flat seating arrangements. I've uploaded the photo so you can see how ghetto it looked. I was worried about the sound but since I was so near the speakers it was okay. I felt like I was at an auc tion or a conference where a keynote speaker would come along any minute. I had an urge to wear a nametag. http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/8001/sanmaneul.jpg Jewel had crutches and performed sitting down the entire night due to her injuries. I would have liked to say the concert was great, but can't because of the obnoxious audience. It might have been because of my far seats and because of the venue itself, but I couldn't enjoy Jewel as I usually do. The area around me was so noisy with people chatting and even on their cell phones. The bar/food staff at the venue were very loud at certain points of the concert and was distracting. People laughed and chatted during her new very emotional song "Shape of You"/"Hole in my Heart" and it was pretty annoying. This drunk lady in front of me kept requesting "6 AM" ... I think she meant YWMFM. LOL. I really love the new song. I hope there's a studio recording of it because it's just a beautiful song. I'm loving the videos available on youtube right now, but I need the real deal :) Sigh. Anyway, here is the set list: 1. Somewhere over the rainbow 2. NYA 3. Last dance rodeo (never heard the story of this one before ... she said the last call of the biker bars were called "last dance rodeo" where the singles would pair off and dance) 4. Carnivore 5. Everything breaks sometime 6. Little sister 7. Stronger woman 8. Life Uncommon 9. Hands (with Chelsea from DWTS and she brought Ty out to ask him a few questions and make him squirm) 10. Down so long 11. Rosy and Mick 12. Happy birthday to curt/unicorn, her sound guy 13. Thump thump 14. Break me 15. Morning song 16. standing still 17. Social anxiety story 18. Intuition 19. Hole in my heart / Shape of You ("do any of you know Violet Eyes? this song is similar") 20. Foolish games 21. YWMFM 22. NYC story > hitchhiking story > WWSYS (Atz: "yep put my best sperm in that one") 23. WWSYS 24. Q&A (where instead of questions people kept requesting songs, i.e., "yodel!!!!" .. ugh) 25.
