That raven song made me want to play the Jewelstock tapes for my boyfriend who would love 'em. Don't feel bad. For the real old fogies, they never knew when it actually changed over to the EDA list from ECHO? I think it was... The EDA list started in 1994. It was an offshoot from the Ecto list. The Ecto list still exists as well. In fact, I just joined it about 6 months ago after threatening to for only about 10 years! I joined the EDA's in 1995 when I was a mere 30 years old. LOL. Amy In a message dated 1/21/2009 2:08:53 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, santee.ordrin@gmail.com writes: Don't feel bad. Hehe. Don't remember quite when I joined (though I could easily look in my massive mailbox and find out), but I do recall that I was the one responsible for the [EDA] designation in front of the emails' subject lines :P Prior to that, they all started with an asterisk. I couldn't set up a folder for my Jewel mail to go in to, because the mail program used the asterisk to mean "all", so when I set up the filter, my supposed "Jewel" folder vaccuumed up every single piece of email I received. I pleaded with Mike (if I remember correctly) to change it to something my mail could properly recognize, and he finally caved and gave us the [EDA] tag ;) (Just checked... 2000, with this email... not sure if I had it with my college email prior to that... if so, could have been '97-'98 or so?) My messages also used to get banned a lot because I had my music up on mp3.com, and I had it listed in my signature file. The list would automatically remove any messages that referenced "mp3", round about the time of the whole Napster thing. Fun times! ]:o_ I don't collect cows. They just have a _o:[ |O = habit of accumulating when I'm around. = O| |_o= :P Jason. LOL. >Amy Actually, the list started at 11:42pm ET on Sunday February 19th 1995 by smoe.org owner Jeff Wasilko minutes after Jeff got home from one of her residency shows at the Kendall Cafe in Boston. (I believe that was the same month Pieces Of You was released, but am not certain). It was the first time Jeff had seen Jewel and the first list hosted at smoe.org (must be he was really, really smitten). It was basically a spin-off of the Ecto (Happy Rhodes) list as Amy said, which was then hosted on a different server. Jewel was getting a lot of discussion on the Ecto list and thus Jeff decided she needed a list of her own.
