I remember him as having taken several photos of Jewel around the time that This Way and Chasing Down The Dawn came out. In fact, I actually have a photo of Jewel, West and Jacque (Violet Eyes) all sitting together. Considering the wedding only had two guests, one of whom officiated the ceremony, is West a personal friend of Jewel's, or simply a long time trusted photographer? Anyone know for sure? The only one on this list who might know for sure would be Alan. I would imagine the answer is both. West has been doing her shoots for avery long time. He was supposed to do JewelStock in July 1996 but I think he was on vacation at the time. Lord knows how long before that he had been her photographer. Seems to me if you have been someones' main photog for so long, a personal friendship arises, maybe even moreso because of the interactive relationship a photographer and a subject need to have. I know I'd certainly never give my dog to anyone I didn't trust. So, that's good. He's taken some wonderful pictures of Jewel in Alaska, Europe, etc. Maybe he's even on the list? If so, I'd love to hear his take on the wedding. And Mike, yep, Leslie is the wiggly brunette in the Apple commercial. BTW, I now have the 1-2-3-4 song stuck in my head. They met early on when she first arrived in San Diego and have been close ever since. West is responsible for countless classic photographs of Jewel dating back to the InnerChange era right up to the wedding photos. He was the only choice for such an important and secretive assignment. As I think Larry mentioned correctly, Django is alive and well and living with West. He's a great dog but was never all that comfortable on the road. I shot some hilarious video of him stealing the security guard's dinner backstage at that Sessions At West 54th holiday show taping that you guys were invited to. He went to answer the security phone and within seconds Django snatched his plate off the table and took off down the hall, leaving a trail of gravy, mashed potatoes and vegetables leading right into Jewel's dressing room. There has to be some draw there. For me, there was none with Feist. But you're right, and most importantly so. Each to his or her own. To me, one of the most important things about music is that there's an environment where there can be something for everyone. Lord knows, MY tastes certainly don't fit society's definitions of what's "popular". Every song doesn't have to speak to every person. But they all speak to someone, or we wouldn't buy them, or steal/download them, as the case may be. Like most people here, music is a huge part of my life. Hell, the most important part of my life, really. It's why I'm still here reading the occasional email after all these years, even though I haven't really liked an official Jewel release since... well... And just for the record, Poltz didn't buy that Feist CD for himself. It was for another friend who was on the road with us that day. She liked it. Or at least was enough of a sycophant that she said she did. ;) - --------------------------------------------- http://www.myspace.com/justfrag > Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2008 13:56:34 -0700 > From: larrysgreenfield@gmail.com > To: frglflm@hotmail.com; jewel@smoe.org > Subject: [EDA] [NJC] Re: Leslie Feist > > Oh, okay. > We're basing our opinions of artists on the quality of their commercial CDs. > I get it now.
