The opening acts were better than opening acts usually are. However, of course, I went to hear the lovely Jewel, why else? ha-ha. I'm pasting in the set list posted on here from the other night effectively. Hands, Stronger Woman, I Do, YWMFM, Foolish Games, Love Me Just Leave Me Alone, Standing Still, Who Will Save Your Soul, Chime Bells. It went REALLY REALLY fast. Probably like 35 minutes. Rather depressing considering my several hour trip each way, but anyway. It was my 14th Jewel show, so I could continue my annual pilgrimage at least. Jewel sounded great. I like seeing the band atmosphere from time to time, after all, one of the Spirit tour shows was one of my favorites ever, but of course, my usual favorite is the small quiet venues. The crowd seemed to like her in general, though there were some who were obviously waiting on the final act, the majority seemed to think she was great. In fact, I've never seen a crowd embrace an opening act so much before. Of course, being San Diego area, perhaps she would have had more fans there than at the other shows. I wish they could have given her a bit longer set considering it was San Diego. Overall, interesting crowd too. Sure isn't the type of people I'm use to seeing at events, events of any kind not just Jewel. ha-ha. It would be interesting if Jewel pulled some people away from country. When I was a kid, I was a country fan up until some point, not sure when, and then one musical group pulled me over to more of what I listen to today. I think Jewel might pull some people from country. ha- ha. I don't know. Just a thought. How they can't think her set is just brilliance though in comparison, I mean, she really is great live, so I'm sure she makes an impact. Looking forward to hearing how the remaining of the tour goes and most of all to a Jewel only tour sometime not far away. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Jun 2008 09:35:29 -0400 From: caseyjonescs@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Fan mail to Jewel and other delights. Part 1 That was just fantastic...BTW, I'd be willing ot say 'I Do'...and I ain't even in it for the money! I could understand how many people would want to claim they were married ot her back in the PoY days...if you ask me personally, that's when she was the hottie! PoY and SPirit days, back when she actually had meat and skin on her bones!...but I figured all that would go away now...it does give me achuckle though, because even when I was younger, I remember Jewel breifly...you'd think after 13 years in music, people would wise up...guess not! THat made my day, Mike! Does this mean I need to start sending mail to you pretending I'm her husband? Anybody here? I'm from Brazil, and I arrived here in the US in January for my graduate studies. I am a Jewel fan since 1997; in 2000 I started a fan club in Brazil (www.jewel.com.br)... The Brazilian fans suffer a lot, because Jewel is not well known there and Brazil is always excluded from the world tours. In the This Way tour, Brazil was a real possibility, but due to mysterious reasons, she did not come. :-( Now I have the opportunity to attend a show here in the US... Last month, in the Jewel's website, Atlanta/GA was figuring on the tour list. There was a show for the end of September, I guess. Now Atlanta is not figuring on the list anymore... Do you have any information about this, if the show was cancelled or something like that? Right now I don't know what I should do. There is a show scheduled for Charlotte/NC in July 18th (it's a very long drive from my city). I don't know if I should buy the ticket for this show or if I should wait for an update in the tour list including Atlanta. The problem is that if I wait to much, and Atlanta doesn't appear on the list, I will get the worst seat for the Charlotte show... The concert is September 18th at The Lakewood Amphitheater. I don't keep up on ticket information, but you can check with the venue for availability. Jewel's website is getting a long overdue overhaul at the moment. They haven't yet added the complete schedule to the calendar. Content changes and updates on a near-daily basis over the next few weeks, so keep checking jeweljk.com. Or just stop by and say hi. You can reply/comment on our blogs there now, including Jewel's and she is reading them. More good things on the way.
