I think last nite was the first time I saw her while she had a single in the top 20 since 1999. > > _________________________________________________________________ > In a rush? I downloaded a copy and while listening to it at work heard a story I had not heard before. It may be well known to older list members... Leading into the song Hands she mentions that while she was homeless in SD, after getting kicked out of her apartment for being late on rent, she resorted to shoplifting a couple of times, yaddi yadda, she was thinking about stealing a $34 dress, in the end didn't steal it, but that led to writing "Hands" Jewel says, "I dont know what it was I saw my hand on that dress, and I suddenly was like, "What am I doing?" Do I have so little faith in myself that I dont think I could earn $34 dollars. All of the suddent I realized what a slap in my own face it was, and how disrespectful of myself it was. I didn't steal the dress. And uh, I wrote a song about the whole thing, just about how no matter poor you are what you do with our own hands is up to you..." I'll try to get an mp3 of it posted at some point for people to listen to if they cant get the whole show. She ends up going into the whole 'camping+9/11+hearing Hands on the radio' bit, which I'm not a big fan of hearing, but this is a better lead up story for Hands. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Mar 2008 12:32:52 -0700 (PDT) From: James Brogdon Subject: [EDA] Setlist.. from 3/26/08 Other than the intro to Hands, pretty uneventful setlist, IMO This -is- a really great recording by Robb as usual, so if you can get a copy I would encourage it.
