As the years have rolled on, Jewel has released 0304, Goodbye Alice in Wonderland and soon to be Perfectly clear and hasn't performed in Europe since 2003 and even then, it was just one show in London. She hasn't toured Europe since Spirit! And hasn't performed in Ireland (where I am) since 1999! I wouldn't care if it was the worst musical artist ever, if Jewel were supporting them even with just 1 song...I'd be there supporting her. I have no idea who Brad Paisley is but I'm guessing he's a country singer and in that, I agree that she should be supporting someone else, instead of headlining her own tour. Seeing as she is entering a new genre of music (as most people will see it, even though we feel she's touched on this many times in the past), she is essentially starting out in the Country scene and wouldn't have the fanbase in that genre yet to support a headlining tour. I just wish I could have the opportunity to even say that I would or wouldn't be going to one of her concerts. Unless she plays here, the UK or continental Europe, it's highly unlikely that I'll ever see Jewel play live again. And that makes me very sad. - ----- Original Message - ---- From: "dave0828@aol.com" To: jewel@smoe.org Sent: Thursday, 6 March, 2008 7:43:06 PM Subject: Re: [EDA] Tour! -- Nooooooo THANK you Sorry Jewel - if I wanted to witness the NASCAR crowd, I'd go to a race.? I've actually seen the crowd that shows up for Brad Paisley, as well as a partial set.? I won't be spending money to put cash in Brad's pocket to see a 40 minute opening set by Jewel.? Let's hope she does somthing better during the fall. Come on Jewel - stand on your own two feet!!? Does anyone else here think there's a steep decline.? More than a decade ago she opened for Bob Dylan and Neil Young's tours.? Brad FREAKING Paisley????? Uh uh...? not when there are so many other shows to choose from during the summer.? Actually, not ever. I get that the new album is going to lean toward country - but get real.? What, you couldn't latch on to the Kenny Chesney Poets and Pirates tour??!!!??!! - -----Original Message----- From: FabioJJ To: jewel@smoe.org Sent: Thu, 6 Mar 2008 2:07 pm Subject: [EDA] Tour! Great gig for Jewel!! Brad Paisley is very hot right now and that's sure gonna be good for Jewel! Plus, it's very exciting to see Jewel having another Top 20 hit! And this time, things are only looking brighter!!! http://blog.cmt.com/2008-03-05/jewel-chu....-upcoming-tour/ Jewel Joining Brad Paisley on Upcoming Tour Posted: March 5th, 2008 at 10:10 pm | By: Calvin Gilbert Brad Paisley's 2008 tour will feature Jewel, Chuck Wicks and newcomer Julianne Hough. Paisley made the announcement Wednesday night (March 5) during his performance at the Music City Jam, an event connected to the annual Country Radio Seminar taking place in Nashville this week. The Paisley Party, as the tour's called, begins June 11 in Albuquerque. Some 42 cities are already on the schedule through mid October. All three acts joined Paisley onstage at the CRS show. Jewel and Wicks both performed, but Hough had to leave to return to Los Angeles to rehearse for Dancing With the Stars. A professional dancer, Hough is working on her first album as a country singer. She's off to a promising start, at least from the standpoint of being signed to a major label -- Mercury Nashville, the home of Sugarland, among others. Hough has released her first single, "That Song in My Head," and will be delivering her debut album in May. At Wednesday's show, three of the top executives at Paisley's record label - -- Arista Nashville -- surprised him with a plaque commemorating his career sales of 10 million albums. Before offering a more heartfelt display of his appreciation, Paisley looked at the label execs and joked, "Great. I've always wanted to meet you." ________________________________________________ Wireless Internet Ltda -- www.wnetrj.com.br ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Mar 2008 14:09:06 -0500 From: "Dave McGovern" Subject: Re: [EDA] Tour! -- Nooooooo THANK you Good reality check, Kiera. Sometimes those of us in the US don't fully appreciate how much opportunity we actually have to see Jewel at so many different events, including the upcoming private radio station show in Milwaukee that Matt just posted about. In the future, I know I'll think twice before I complain again. Now, I wonder if I've still got my old Stetson from the Urban Cowboy days? :-) John Travolta had nothing on this line-dancing madman. Back in, uh, 1980(?), you didn't see too many cowboy hats in my home state of Minnesota. Couldn't get 'em on over the ear muffs. ;-) Where does the time go?
