With the knowledge that the blonde had been hanging in town working on HER new record, I had a feeling she might show up, and I was right. I got there early, hit the record store upstairs, & then met up w/ Polio outside. We went in & I staked my claim on the front table just left of center. My friends Karen & Kim showed up later & sat down w/ me... and then who should walk in & sit down right next to us (at the table w/ the "Reserved" sign) but Jewel & a friend of hers I didn't recognize. Karen, who's much more "into" her than I am at this point, just about freaked out when I leaned over & whispered in her ear, "Jewel just sat down at the next table." I won't totally out her, but let's just say the 40something sounded more like a teenybopper for a second. (Needless to say, she was jealous when Steve introduced me to Jewel after the show, but left her out!) I was amused. Toward the end of the set, Polio told a medium-length version of the drug bust story, & then Jewel got up to sing YWMFM w/ him. He stopped halfway through for his latest stories of the song, about The Office & American Idol, then Jewel talked a bit about her memory of how proud Steve's dad was of him when the song first hit & the checks started showing up. After finishing YWMFM, she talked a bit about first meeting Poltz & getting her start, they did Silver Lining, then she took a seat. Steve ended the set with Sewing Machine. If you haven't heard or seen him do that one... it's an experience. I was keeping an eye on Jewel in between taking shots w/ my camera, & I could tell by her reaction that it was new to her -- she was laughing pretty hard. So much so that at one point I thought I saw her wipe a tear from the corner of her eye. Good times. I think I got a few pretty good pictures, though I haven't looked at them on the big screen yet. It'll be a few days, but I'll send out a link once I get them uploaded to Kodak Gallery. Also recorded audio w/ my digital camera, & it turned out pretty well. If anyone's interested, let me know off-list & I'll see what I can do (once I get the show processed) about emailing Jewel's 2 songs, or maybe mailing a disc of the whole show if you're interested. Later... Rob _________________________________________________________________ You keep typing, we keep giving. I like this version better than the previouus ones I've heard. Vocally, it's better too. But I immediately liked the song when I heard it. I agree! This needs to be a single :) On Nov 29, 2007 1:31 PM, Scott Evans wrote: > Here's a link if anyone hasn't heard it. I just uploaded it.
