So excited about Cowboy Waltz!!! It's one of my total favorites!!! On the plane, leaving Las Vegas... Hello! Leaving Las Vegas....been there 2 whole weeks for the PBR World Finals...our friend Justin McBride won the world, so we were excited. I went to nashville a couple days ago and did a press conference about signing to a new label- I'm on a new little label called Valory, and I'm pretty excited....the label heads name is Scott Borchetta, and I really hit it off with him. I had recorded a country record on my own months ago, and was just looking around to see if there was a label I'd fit with, but all the ones I met with wanted my album to be more pop! No one was willing to take a stand and say they like the songs I wrote, saying nothing sounded "radio" enough, so I figured I'd just skip a label, and skip radio and put my cd out all on my own and make music I like- but then I met Scott, and he listened to what I had done and liked the sames songs I liked and didn't want me to change for radio, so we decided to partner up and take a stab at a record label and radio release....so, I've either made a great decision or a really dumb one, and only time will tell! I like my new record- some songs are old- I wrote "Perfectly Clear" and "Cowboy Waltz" when I was 18 or so, and they were always too country, I was told, to fit on a cd, and I'm also excited about some of the new ones I wrote for the album like "I Do" and "Thump Thump"..maybe I will post some lyrics so u guys can get a sneak peak....I'm headed to Nashville again right now to present at the CMA's- so I guess u can see me there! I will be in touch....xxjewel >> she also mentioned Rosy and Mick will be on it! >> album title and release date http://www.okmagazine.com/news/view/2560 With a cowboy for a father and rodeo hunk Ty Murray for a boyfriend , it would only make sense for folksy singer Jewel to try her hand at country music one day. Now the star is set to release her first album in that classic genre, My Country, in March and tells OK! this dream has been a long time coming. I've been trying to make a country record my whole career, but my label would never work well with country radio so I finally got off from them and made my record, the singer/actress/best-selling poet reveals to OK!. My first single comes out February or March. I think it will be a song called I Do. Temporarily ditching the acoustic pop music that has brought her fame and success for a multi-album deal with country label the Valory Music Company, the 33-year-old is one of the latest pop singers to go back to her country roots. As OK! has reported, Jessica Simpson is also going that route, and Jewel thinks its great mainstream and country are intermixing. I don't know why everybody does it, but I think it is great though, she says. I think it stands for the American singer, songwriter and storyteller and it is a really noble tradition. You can hear a snippet of "I Do" here: http://wkrn.com/nashville/news/jewel-signs-with-country-record-label/126776.htm#top What do you guys think? Is it too different for Jewel?? IMO it sounds very Jewel. The structure reminds of Again and Again, but a little better. I really like Jewel's voice on it, it sounds strong, I much prefer it than the baby girl voice she uses in Again and Again. Even though I was expecting a banging first single, I think I Do is very radio friendly but would work better as a 2nd or 3rd single. Well, let's wait and see. This era has me excited!! ________________________________________________ Wireless Internet Ltda -- www.wnetrj.com.br ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2007 15:33:25 -0200 From: Fjjordao Subject: [EDA] New album: My Country I sent this before but for some reason it never came through...
