She asks us questions, and it makes me want to answer. ha-ha. But I can only answer to you guys my fellow EDAs. Wow. I was surprised to hear she will go back to another label. I hope it won't be so long of a contract this time. I liked the idea of Jewel getting to do what she wants, when she wants. However, I think her reasons are sound. Why not have someone there to push the music out to a few more people? Jewel sounds so comfortable at home with country music. I honestly cannot wait to hear this album. I know it will be fantastic. I do hope country won't be the last genre we hear from Jewel though. I remember reading before that she would like to put out fun albums regularly now. I'd really enjoy that. Wouldn't you guys? I just got into Cat Stevens music, and it is so extraordinary, and you know he quit in 1978, just recently came back under his current name, but in just those 10 years or so he put out music 68 to 78 or so, he had over ten albums. I know albums were shorter then, but it's so much awesome material. Maybe now we could get albums from Jewel more regularly, which I think would be fantastic. Glad she likes Nashville. I just had some good friends move there, and they love it too. I've never been there. I thought Home was a great idea for the album name. What about you guys? I really want to see one of jewel's shows this fall, but I found out about them too late, and now they are all sold out, the good seats. This may be the first year since 1998 that I didn't see a Jewel concert at least once. :( Well. Thanks for the blog entry Jewel and for passing it along Mr BB! Take care all. I don't htink it will be a traditional record contract ... probably more of a distributor relationship since she already recorded the album on her own. I guess she's not ready to strike out on her own a la NIN, Radiohead, etc ;) I think they have larger cult followings though ... - -elizabeth On 10/17/07, MrBB wrote: > > Here's Jewel's latest blog for ya. And could someone please remind us when the Toby Keith special gets lcose by, I'll have to break out the recording equipment, if I'm interested. Olson" Subject: [EDA] Jewel's blog I have a friend who works for WMA down in Nashville. He e-mailed me days ago telling me how cool the guitar pull was. He was there with Trisha-- and he told me that Jewel was pretty good. He occasionally can get me tickets and such to alot of counrty music concerts and meet-and-greets, provided that they are counrty music stars that WMA represents. Anyways, I would have loved to go to THAT. But I guess that it was a really "expensive" guitar pull. I was quite jealous because I live in MT and can't travel much with my job. So Jewel hasn't been up here for about 4 years I think- and I am so missing her live music. Oh well. Really looking forward to her new CD, though. I really enjoy John Rich-- I've met him a few times and he seems genuine and I'm glad she chose him. peace~ Brittany _________________________________________________________________ Peek-a-boo FREE Tricks & Treats for You! http://www.reallivemoms.com?ocid=TXT_TAGHM&loc=us ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Oct 2007 09:04:02 -0500 From: Subject: RE: [EDA] Jewel's latest blog Oh what I wouldn't give to see Jewel and Patty Griffin on the same stage! And then add Shawn Colvin into the mix? That would be perfection! I'm not big on Trisha Yearwood or John Rich but I would have gladly watched them considering the other three. Amazing! Was anyone on the list at that show? I'd love to hear a review, or better yet an MP3 of some of it. Anyway, it is so nice to finally hear something from Jewel again where she is actually talking to her fans. And she genuinely sounds happy, which is good to hear. Her music has made me happy so often that it just makes me feel good to know she is in a good place. I can't wait for the new album to come out! I think Jewel has always kind of leaned towards country anyway. POY definitely had glimpses of it and This Way sounded all country to me. So it's no stretch to picture her intentionally doing a country album. It should be amazing! Anyway, take care everyone! And her working with John Rich can only mean good things. My girlfriend and I went down to Nashville in the spring when she did a show at 12th and Porter, and he showed up and it was awesome, they work really well together. I think we all knew she'd end up a country chic in the end. And she does seem so relaxed and at home in that environment.
