I just realized Jewel's birthday is in less then a week!! Is there time for us to do anything? Maybe we could all just send Happy Bday wishes to someone's email (MrBB?) and this someone would give it to her. I know it's not like people here jump into Jewel everyday but well, maybe someone does, hehe.. Also, if someone has Jewel's direct email, we could send this person our emails and he/she would send it to her. Well, just thoughts. Let's do something! Not much really new but it seems everything is going very well! http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp? vnu_content_id=1003589106 Jewel Out-Countrying John Rich On New Album May 23, 2007, 10:30 AM ET Gary Graff, Detroit Nobody's accusing John Rich of being lazy. He's got a new Big & Rich album, "Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace," coming out June 5. He co-produced Gretchen Wilson's new set, "One of the Boys," and helmed John Anderson's "Easy Money." His next trick? Jewel's new album. "It's freakin' awesome, man -- she is probably one of the greatest American singer/songwriters we've ever had, in my opinion," Rich tells Billboard.com about the project, which they're "finishing up right now. I'd say you'll hear new music from Jewel by the end of the year. Every label in Nashville is talking to her now." Rich says Jewel approached him about working together, telling him that she wanted "to make an album geared more towards country, 'cause I just love country. I said, 'Like what?' and she played me 15 songs in a day. I said, 'Yep, I would say that's Jewel country right there.' So we went in and made an album." What makes the Jewel project distinct for Rich, however, is that he's serving solely as a producer rather than collaborating on the songs. "I tried to write with her," he explains, "and I couldn't even get to that spot in my head. She is such an intricately detailed, deep, multi-layered lyricist. It's mind-boggling, some of the stuff she writes. And her voice is just alien; nobody sounds like Jewel." Rich's other major project is also due June 5 -- a book, "Big & Rich: All Access," which comes with a companion DVD. Rich and Big Kenny worked on the photo-heavy 256-page tome with country music journalist Allen Rucker, and Rich says it's a nice adjunct to the duo's body of work. "It explains how this whole thing works," he says. "People see Kenny, they see me, then they hear it and say 'What the hell is going on here? How does that work?' When you get through reading the book, seeing the pictures, watching the DVD part of it, you will understand better how this all came together." Big & Rich play Country Thunder USA tomorrow (May 24) in Waxahachie, Texas, and start a summer tour June 8 in Pryor, Oklahoma. ________________________________________________ Wireless Internet Ltda -- www.wnetrj.com.br ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 May 2007 16:25:22 +0000 (GMT) From: "Kiera @ JKF" Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel and Atlantic No she's completely finished with Atlantic now. She hasn't signed with anyone else yet. Not sure if she will sign anything long term. I doubt it. Maybe just some 1 album contracts with various labels depending on what she's doing. I think there has been some speculation that she will sign to Warner Bros Country label though none of that is confirmed. Scott ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 May 2007 20:28:40 -0400 From: MrBB Subject: [EDA] RE: Soundstage is new? Scott asked: <> The Jewel Soundstage episode that has been airing frequently over the last several months is from last season and was recorded in Dallas on August 31, 2006. Two new Jewel Soundstage episodes are coming up as part of the 2007 season. Both are sourced from her concert at The Rialto Square Theater in Joliett, IL on November 28, 2006. This show had a full acoustic set and a set with The Chicagoland Pops Orchestra. The two new episodes begin airing on July 19 and 26 respectively. A few people have asked me about the Rob Thomas episode of Soundstage that I think is the first show of the new season. His episode was recorded at Red Rocks on June 28, 2006 on that tour he and Jewel did together. Jewel came out during his set and they did "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" that night. Unfortunately, that song did not make the cut for his Soundstage episode. Regardless, I think you'll find the two new Jewel episodes very enjoyable. I don't know what exactly will be included, but the raw footage was excellent quality and the 5.1 mix phenomenal. They did a fantastic job capturing that night. They also conducted extensive interviews with Jewel and I assume some of that will also be included. Tune in.
