["E N" ] [EDA] New Show to Trade: REALLY a MUST HAVE 2004 [James Brogdon Subject: [EDA] some old concert info? help? So, I'm cleaning out my old CDs and I've come across one I labeled "new jewel songs" and yet, I didn't label where they came from. They're from This Way - Jesus Loves You, New Wild West, Standing Still, I Won't Walk Away, Everybody Needs Someone Sometime, Serve the Ego. I have a feeling they are from Humphrey's and in 2000. I think it was her first band show with the This Way band. And I don't have the specific date! Agh! And I have no record of them anywhere else. Obviously I made the cd because it's a CD-R ... so any help would be appreciated. I'm looking for the date and location of this. Here are some tidbits that might help to identify the show: - before New Wild West, she says "how about one none of you know" - at the end of Jesus Loves You, she says "can you turn the acoustic on/up (?)" Also, does anyone happen to have those great black and white promo pics for This Way? I will forever be grateful ... Thanks in advance! Also, did anyone watch Punk'd? I have no cable so didn't get a chance to see it ... - -Elizabeth ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Apr 2007 20:29:49 -0700 (PDT) From: James Brogdon Subject: [EDA] New Show to Trade: REALLY a MUST HAVE 2004 Now since there's not much circulating right now, and since many of us-already-have-everything-everyone-else has, I'm thinking we could just TREE this show.. if there's enough interest.. ..at least a few tracks are.. and personally I like to have the whole show and not excerpts.. but everyone is different. Anyway, I'm a sucker for shows that have a Q&A in them.. throw in a couple of semi-rare live tracks and this show gets a decent rating from me. Setlist courtesy of Jewelwiki.com ..which I love and use frequently while I am ID3-tagging my collection :) This is an audience recording, 4th row center, obtained from the original taper in FLAC format so it's lossless and a very good non-soundboard. Has the usual low-level audience noise. Here are some interesting things to note about this show: She starts Passing Time by saying that it is a really old song she wrote the song when she was 19 and that she had run across it recently and thought "timeless...timeless in its bitterness" ... but she had been singing it consistently for at least two years straight.. :D One of the 10 or so shows with My Heart Were Made Of Gold, and the first time in nearly seven years that Jewel performed All the Animals... which is not a particularly good song, but it does seem very early Jewel.. http://www.jewelwiki.com/pmwiki.php?n=Songs.AllTheAnimals Anyway, Jewel mentions Alan Bershaw by name saying that just the other night he created the binder that has all of the lyrics etc... which she uses to sing All the Animals. She also mentions that she's "trying to do this thing" where they'll have a truck outside and record the show for people to buy.. which we all know happened a short time later.. she mentions she is having a fight with her new boss about it.. The version of Standing Still that follows All the Animals starts out a little strange like she's still stuck on the tempo/tone of the previous song.. JEWEL DOES NOT SING YWMFM.. woot! There's a Q&A for 5:46 before the last song.. Someone throws a pair of boxers onto stage during the encore.. she thanks them.. She talks about singing with Jessica Simpson.. "one of the nicest people I've ever met" "not pretentious at all.. very very sweet" "Last CD I listened to..." "I don't know the last CD i listened to to tell you the truth" "Are You Happy?" "Am I happy? My god. That's a bit heavy for me. Ohhh god, am I happy? I'm on Paxil so I'm feeling good [crowd laughs]. No. I'm not on paxil. I um, am I happy.. I yes. I uh, I'm a writer so I'm never real happy, it's like a job pre-requsite. But uh it's been a really hard year, I've had a really brutal, heart breaking year but it's getting to the end of it and turning around so thank you for that personal question I'm gonna go cry" ...makes a joke about people kneeling... looking up her skirt.. to which she says she is wearing underwear, and a woman from the crowd asks "are you wearing a Jewel thong?" Jewel says she is "I'm a VODKA SODA GIRL personally" .. KETEL ONE.
