He is from Moscow, Iowa and lived in the Boston area for 8 years when we got to know him and watched his career grow. He is actually more well know in Ireland where he repeatedly wins title of "Best Male Performer" In the past year he has toured the US both with his band and solo, with many sold out theater size shows. He is know for his great songwriting, has been compared to Dylan and Springsteen. He is an amazingly nice person, frequently talking to fans for two hours after a show. He is home in Iowa now, working on his next album, so isn't touring. If you're looking for a great new artist to explore, check out his latest album, The Animal Years. Or go to to http://youtube.com/ watch?v=B2OYljDheMk and check out a video I shot of him at an outdoor concert in Boston last summer. Hi to everyone I haven't seen in years....so many great memories!!!! He's very well liked here in Ireland and plays a lot of gigs here. He comes here many times a year. I've always enjoyed his music and from what I heard of his most recent album tracks, he's still doing really well. - ------------------------ - ----- Original Message ---- From: Karen Snyder To: jewel@smoe.org Sent: Thursday, 5 April, 2007 8:03:33 AM Subject: [EDA] NJC:Springsteen Tribute - Josh Ritter In the EDA tradition of sharing knowledge of other great talents with the list, Josh Ritter is a great, exciting singer-songwriter. Hey, I just dropped in to correct some erroneous information going 'round... First, contrary to various websites and many music news blurbs, Jewel is NOT part of that Springsteen Tribute at Carnegie Hall tonight. Also, I was likely unclear when I recently chatted with your listowner Mike. As those who've met me know, I'm far less articulate when talking... but before I see "Jewel has written 60 new songs this year" in the press, I should clarify. She's still plenty prolific, but not quite that prolific. What I meant to relay is that she has been toying around with approx 60 unreleased songs during the preproduction stages for her next album. I'd estimate about half are new songs (written this year) and half back catalogue. Several surprising choices on the back catalogue songs and many intriguing new songs, not all destined for the country album. The country album is the priority focus right now, but she's simultaneously thinking in terms of other album projects, as well. Since you're already hip to the MTV Punk'd coming up, I think that covers it for now. Seeya, Alan NP: "Beloved Stranger" Cindy Lee Berryhill (her forthcoming album, out soon.) PS. We have almost 400 full concerts from the 1960s through the 1990s online now at The Concert Vault area at Wolfgangsvault.com. Registration is free and easy and it costs nothing to listen. You just need a flash player. Stop by and help yourself to a few shows. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Apr 2007 12:43:38 -0700 From: "E N" Subject: Re: [EDA] a few corrections/clarifications Thanks for the update ... but uhh ... we are? - -Elizabeth On 4/5/07, MrBB wrote: > > > > Since you're already hip to the MTV Punk'd coming up, I think that > covers it for now. > > Seeya, Alan ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V12 #76 ***************************
