Where is Mr. BB? Can i be your apprentice? Or take over the Jewel Vault when you retire! Cheers Kevin "Jewel's fav. I finally listened to GAIW a few months ago, after not being able to get my hands on it for a long time. Spots of it are great, really great ("Long Slow Slide", GAIW, "Only One Too", "1000 Miles Away" , "Last Dance Rodeo" ) and I am very heartened to hear that she finally left Atlantic after years of mispromotion and faulty marketing. i too have been on and off this list since I was a kid (I seriously cannot beiieve that I was 14 once)... wow that became REALLY disjointed somewhere along the way. gonna shut up now. oh, one last thing. Of course she's selling out, Atlantic gave her no choice when they treated her career like she was to be a true one hit wonder (ok, two hits) and nothing more. they never truly saw the passion and poetry in her music like the fans do. -- Chelsea Hawk www.myspace.com/preciousillusion AOL now offers free email to everyone. Yes, Mike...it's not uncommon that MrBB has all of these great songs. I guess I meant does she make TOLERABLE music that we get to hear anymore. What MrBB hears is irrelevant to me. =) On 3/21/07, Larry Greenfield wrote: > > > Um, I think you just admitted that they already leaked. > Maybe. > If you add a little bribe or (heaven forbid) blackmail, you may even get > over the goal line and into the end zone. Once, long ago, seemingly "afraid" of computers (my words, not his), she's quite the savvy techno wiz now. As one example, he said she'll often record a new song with her guitar onto her computer and send it to him immediately and he'll have it minutes later to archive. Writing songs and the music that goes with them is her passion in the business. Clearly that will never change." That's cool to hear! YAY. Wow, she's come a long way from the outhouse days...but in a way, there must have been something so pure about that too, if not slightly inconvenient on those freezing winter mornings... Must be nice to be able to afford all that fancy software. Although, these days lots of people have home recording stuff...I think Norah Jones and her boyfriend bassist Lee Alexander recorded her "Not So Late" on their home studio, although I could be wrong about that. The face of the music world is changing. People are now much more hands-on, do-it-yourself. Even if that is only for her archiving. I'd probably rather here those songs then the stuff she's been releasing commercially. But at least it's getting archived, and really glad to hear she's not lost the passion for songwriting. She should stop by the Jack Hardy song workshop in NYC sometime. Or not. Anyway, just came back to this still opened unsent...heading out of work in a few...going to see Lucinda Wiliams tomorrow night at Radio City Music Hall in NY (yay). Lucinda prolific, very fine alt-country rocker... Anyhoodleboobles...have a great night, everybody! I can't even imagine how many zillion songs Jewel has in her catalog, many of which are surprisingly or not so surprisingly good. She's still probably get torn apart at the Jack Hardy songwriting group where Suzanne Vega sharpened her songwriting prowess (as did many others), but hey, if she can self-critique, or whatever works for her...just really glad to hear that no matter what other things she does out there from show hosting to race car driving to whatever else, that songwriting is still a major passion and hasn't died. And technically savvy, who knew...YAY. Amy :) ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone.
