The Donald is so revolting. Someone wrote, "Must be TY's redneck influence. " My comment: Well, at least he's a relatively smart one, no? I mean, I would assume he's got to have have half a brain at least to hang on to Jewel who despite her fake blonde and the dumbing down of her look is still a smart lady. Someone wrote, "Doesn't she make music anymore?" My comment: She lost me after the one with "Standing Still". Not that interested anymore, except for when I hear glimmers of the old Jewel, for some reason never bothered to get off this list and still pay attention every now and then. I guess she's going down the road of making herself into a little corporation a la J-Lo but on a smaller scale, kind of dipping in a little everywhere, playing the American dream, keeping herself busy and basically keeping on her finances, etc. Selling herself, being part of the corporate wheel that keeps on turning... After growing up poor but rich in imagination and beauty of her native Alaska, she's not going to let herself lose control of the pursestrings even if that does mean getting involved in what sounds like some cheezy stuff, maybe some good. Not really my judgement call. Could understand that she's a savvy businesswoman perhaps. No biggie. Even if she did go through a cheesification process ages ago, I'm sure there's something still authentic at the core. Everything/one changes...Personally I think she'd look cute with styly glasses and dark hair, but I doubt we'll ever see that Jewel. I doubt she has confidence in her appearance enough, or maybe likes the blonde. That is her business. At least she's healthy, albeit slimmed down a lot. Doesn't seem the type to down diet pills and methadone. Seems the type to get into yoga, outdoors stuff. I mean, she's made her choices...I personally see Norah Jones as more of the type of celebrity that I would admire or aspire to be like, gorgeous, talented, not a sell=out by any means, but Jewel's still cool in my book...half cheezy, half cool ;) She's done what she's felt she's had to do...she's come from a certain place and certainly has done the American dream thing, even if people do remember her mostly for the car thing, I think others will remember her heartfelt songs like "Foolish Games" and whatnot...whatever! I mean, at least she's hung in there...I'm sure it ain't easy in and she's played the game fairly... ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. C'mon Jamie. You know better than that. I JUST got off the phone with MrBB. Called him on another subject not at all related to Miss Kilcher, but of course we got to her eventually. Among many things he told me is that she is still (of course) as musically prolific as ever. Here it is just about ninety days into the new year and Jewel has already sent him over sixty brand new songs, many (most? I forgot his exact word) of them actual recordings of her singing them (with guitar of course). He said it's really cool too. Once, long ago, seemingly "afraid" of computers (my words, not his), she's quite the savvy techno wiz now. As one example, he said she'll often record a new song with her guitar onto her computer and send it to him immediately and he'll have it minutes later to archive. Writing songs and the music that goes with them is her passion in the business. Clearly that will never change.
