Hey everyone,
Don't forget to set your clocks ahead one hour tonight, and to join in on
the White Elephant Gift Exchange! I got busy tonight, and I'm extending the
deadline until tomorrow night.
What is white elephant?
Something around your house that you would not mind giving away. It can be
Jewel related, but does not have to be. It can be a useful item, a joke
gift, or just
that ugly green lamp you've been wanting to get rid of. Personally, I like
comical gifts, but that is just me. Example, one of those great Unedited
preprinted autographed photos with a postprinted mustache on Jewel.
What is it?
Basically everyone will be given a name and addy of another EDA, and
everyone will give/receive a white elephant gift. We used to do it around
Christmas/yule, but I was being people shy. This is just a goofy, fun way
to connect with
strangers.
Is there a price/value limit?
Let me stress again, these items should be something you already have
laying
around the house, but no, there is no price limit... Just remember though,
you might give your signed Save the Linoleum cd, and grape gum on the
ground.
How will the names be assigned?
Email me if you want to participate (unless someone else wants to run this
thing, which would be fine too.) and the names will randomly be given out.
You may not necessarily be getting a gift from the same person you gave
one.
Can EDAs outside of the US join in the fun?
Yes! But please, everyone state if you are willing to ship overseas. It
would be fun and best to break things up, having someone in Australia send
a gift
to someone in Spain, etc. If enough people are willing to ship overseas,
then it will work really well.
Timeline.
The clock is ticking.... You have 6 days to email me at

email with "White
Elephant" (or White's Oliphaunt) in the subject. Please state if you are
willing to ship overseas
and include your name and mailing address. Then the night that Daylight
Savings Time beings (yes, more sun worship) I will email you an address.
Bonus Prize: I have never actually taken part in the exchange, but whoever
gives the coolest/funniest/best/strangest gift will get something from me
this year. The catch is that I have a strange sense of humor, and I get to
pick
the winner!

Quick Tips:
1.Email me your name, shipping address, email address, and if you are
willing to ship overseas by 2AM March 11. (Figure that one out :-) )
2. When I send you an address find something laying around your home to send
to a stranger, and ship it to them
3. When you get your gift remember to email the EDAs to share the cool
stuff!
PS: Don't forget the most important part.... When you receive your gift,
post to the list to tell everybody of the cool/strange things you received!
