I too am pressed for time.. but I thought I would add in a few quick notes and try to do a more complete review later: This show was indeed LONG.. we did not get an opener.. or an intermission. I was very surprised by how long the solo went on.. This was a small orchestra.. definately less than 20 piece. By the time she got to the orchestra part, she had commented AND it was evident to me that her voice was strained. (she made the comment she had been sick.. and was actually sipping her tea.. which seemed unusual) This was ESPECIALLY noticable during per la gloria.. I scribbled down the words to "Get Ready Boy" .. all except two lines in a verse section towards the end.. when I couldn't keep up. I'll get those up soon. Because it was being filmed they actually had a stage setup.. She was wearing jeans and a tank top.. her nails did not match her shirt, which I thought was strange given the filming.. We always request songs that we think there's a 2% chance she'll sing... Boy Needs a Bike style.. but not something like ABCD or Jessica or anything.. we requested Anything Goes, somewhat jokingly, at the beginning of the show.. and then it showed up at the end! That was really a treat to see in person.. if you just listen her singing it, and imagine what she looks like, that's what it looks like :) As a final somber note.. I did not record this show... technical difficulties, but it was higher risk with all of the extra security "no cameras/recording" people there.. and we were sitting in the front row and it would have been a HUGE risk.. even for someone who's done it a few times and can be pretty discreet.. - ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Nov 2006 14:21:45 -0500 From: MrBB Subject: [EDA] Here's last night's setlist with Orchestra Hi All, Last night was quite the show. If you've been following setlists of late, Jewel has been playing well over two hours at some of the shows, but last night was the longest performance since I think Jewelstock, over 10 years ago! I'm a little pressed for time at the moment, so I'll mostly let the setlist speak for itself, but a few things stand out. One, she resurrected "I'm Sensitive" after not playing it for many years,-- with orchestral backing! Also "Per la Gloria d 'adorarvi" was finally performed with orchestral backing, the way it was meant to be heard. The guitarist for her band, Greg Suran and the Chicagoland Pops joined Jewel for "Alice" and "Satellite," in addition to material she had performed orchestrally before. And she tossed in a Cole Porter number, too. This was filmed for a future PBS broadcast and an episode of Soundstage. I'm sure you'll hear more about that before too long. Otherwise, here's the accurate setlist for ya. Hey Scott, I think I was standing practically next to you. Were you in the front all the way on the left as you looked at the stage? I was in a black military cap and olive jacket 2 people over if so. For those that weren't there, it was only 3 songs but since it wasn't really advertised the crowd was fairly small. The space was tiny...only about 10 feet wide and maybe 100 feet long? Very narrow. So I guess I was about 6 feet from her. The songs were Hands and 2 Christmas carols (sorry, I don't remember which ones...hey I'm Jewish, whaddaya want??!) Ironically, I was in the neighborhood to go to a camera repair shop and get my camera fixed so I couldn't take pics except with my camera phone. I haven't even checked them yet but I doubt they look like much. Scott's came out nice though! :-) Amy In a message dated 11/30/06 2:11:43 PM, sevans112@gmail.com writes: > I took fantastic pics of Jewel at Herald Square.
