It sounds like it's gonna be fantastic! His 1st single, "Alyssa Lies" is quite good and is becoming a big country hit already. http://aristanashville.com/jmc/bio.htm >> Writing with many of Nashvilles best writers, Carroll, never one afraid to dream big, sought out pop songmaster Rob Thomas, who wanted to write, but whose schedule was too clogged to fit in the appointment in a timely manner. Recognizing the innate depth in Carrolls deep-valley baritone, Thomas publisher suggested earth diva/writer Jewel as someone he might find a fertile writing compatriot in. Having been a huge fan of Jewels multi-platinum Pieces of You Id bought three copies, I kept wearing them out, he admits with a laugh. I just couldnt get enough of her voice or her writing, the way the songs were put together Carroll jumped at the chance and found himself on a plane to rodeo star Ty Murrays ranch, where Jewel lives with her longtime beau. Sitting around a campfire in front of a bunkhouse on Ty Murrays 2000-acre ranch Jewel and I playing acoustic guitars and songs for each other, Ty telling stories about the rodeo between songs it doesnt get more magical than that, the North Carolinian explains. And the thing of it is, shed already had a session booked with Shaye Smith [One Boy, One Girl] and they let me in on that time. Of course, what happens to me every time I go to write with someone, no matter what we get, I come away with 30 more ideas. Having just been with all these Nashville writers, everything I was throwing out was about drinking and honky-tonking, hell-raising cause its where I was and something I thought theyd have a different take on. Turns out Shaye doesnt write those kind of songs at all. It was a complete, flat bust. I went home to the hotel, started writing guitar progressions cause that was not going to happen again! Anyway, I came up on one that was kind of folkie like her first album had been. When we were throwing out ideas the next day, I pitched that in and they responded immediately. Jewel had the title [No Good in Goodbye], and we figured out that all of us had been in the left end of that conversation before and that the first verse should be in his voice, the second in hers and the third verse, they come together. The swelling balladry of No Good in Goodbye perfectly matches both the power and thwarted desire in each singers reality. So powerful a song, the Grammy-winning songstress even called her label to make sure she would be free to record it with the newcomer on his debut. And its that willingness to go deep that gives Carroll so much of his impact. Though he humbly offers, You cant sell a song to people if you dont really believe it, he also seeks the intensity of real life that so many miss in the hustle of getting by. << ________________________________________________ Wireless Internet Ltda -- www.wnetrj.com.br ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Nov 2006 23:33:42 EST From: LAJEWEL10@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Last nights show in Northampton! Hey Jewel fans! I just wanted to report in about last nights show since i havn't seen any posts about it and i'm sure some ppl like to read the post like i often do!! Last night was the Northampton show and it was of course great! Jewel was looking good as usual, wearing jeans and a black tank top over a white tank top. She sang beautifully and told a few funny stories that i know most of us have all heard before, and yes i still love hearing them again and again. Though i would like to hear some new ones sometime soon too! haha. I was actually surprised at how long it took for her to talk to the crowd. I think she played like 7 songs right in a row before asking for requests... and it seems like in the past she usually asks for them after maybe 2 or 3 songs! But when she did ask for requests i was ready! lol... at first i requested "flower" just because i like that song and i ended up naming my cat flower after the song... so i would love to hear it in concert, but i dont think she will ever play it... she's probably forgotten that one by now anyways. but then i yelled out "rosy + mick" and she was like oh rosy and mick i think i'll do that one if i can remember it, or something like that... and then someone else said barcelona and she told them that she forgot the tuning to that one so she was glad that it got on an album. then she went back and said i think someone said rosy and mick and then she was like who said that... and i was like i did!!!! haha so if anyone was there... yup that was me in the 5th row who requested the song! :) oh and steve poltz was the opening act too! so that was great to see him again.... he was funny like usual and i think the crowd actually liked him too! oh and jewel also played 2 new songs... one i kinda knew cuz she played it at the foxwoods show... and the other one i didn't know... but she said "alot" at the end of some verses... not sure what the title is. and the other one had don't wanna be loved by anybody but you in it. not sure if that is the same one as she sang a few years back or a brand new one, cuz i think she had that same saying in another one of her songs... or i may be wrong. oh also does anyone know about the foxwoods show and the northampton show being turned into a dvd or something? cuz she wore the same outfit at both shows... and i know she did that before with the two humphreys shows and they turned that into a dvd! so i'm hoping they do the same cuz that would be awesome!!! alright i suppose that is all for now! thanks for reading! i love you alll!!!!!!!!! - -Laura- Oh and if anyone else was at the show let me know... cuz northampton is only like 15-20 minutes from my house and it would be cool to know other eda's in the area!!!! :) ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V11 #281 ****************************
