Jewel sat in as a guest judge in the Minneapolis auditions for the upcoming season of "American Idol," has taped acting appearances in upcoming episodes of "Las Vegas" and "Men In Trees," which are scheduled to run October 27th and November 10th respectively, and appeared on the season premiere of the CW Network's "7th Heaven" in September. Acting is not a new endeavor for Jewel who starred alongside Tobey Maguire, Skeet Ulrich and Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Ang Lee's 1999 film, "Ride with the Devil." Always striving to create more, Jewel recently wrote, produced and directed a video to "Stephenville, TX," a song off of her recent album "Goodbye Alice In Wonderland." The video can now be viewed at Yahoo.com. As the new host of "Nashville Star," Jewel succeeds five-time GRAMMY. award-winning superstar Wynona Judd, who co-hosted season four with Cowboy Troy. The USA Network's original grassroots talent search to find America's next great country music star and the nation's top rated country music program will return on its new night, Thursday, January 11 from 10-11 PM ET/9-10 PM CT. In addition, Jewel joined Lifetime Television in delivering more than 12 million petition signatures to Capitol Hill to underscore the importance of Congressional passage of the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act of 2005 and urge Congress to pass the bipartisan act. The legislation would end the practice of "drive-through" mastectomies, when women are forced to leave the hospital just hours following their physically and emotionally difficult surgeries and before they are ready to go home. Jewel, who toured earlier this summer, will be heading out again for a solo acoustic tour starting in November in support of her most recent studio release, "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland." The dates will kick off in Verona, NY and will hit sixteen cities throughout the month. Opening for Jewel on some of the shows will be long time friend and music collaborator Steve Poltz, who co-wrote with Jewel her hit song "You Were Meant for Me." "I've known Steve since I was living in my car in San Diego. He showed me the ropes and helped me get my start in town," says Jewel. "To this day he remains one of the best performers and songwriters I know." Included in these dates is a stop on November 28th at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet, IL where the members of the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra conducted by GRAMMY. award-winning Arnie Roth will join Jewel on stage for an unforgettable evening. The show will be filmed for a two hour PBS concert special documentary and will also be used in an upcoming February Soundstage episode. From the remote tundra of her Alaskan youth to the triumph of international stardom, Jewel has traveled a singular road as an acclaimed singer, songwriter, poet, actress and painter. The three-time GRAMMY. nominee, hailed by The Times of London as "the most sparking female singer-songwriter since Joni Mitchell" continues to explore new musical avenues from the simplicity of acoustic-driven folk to the embrace of rock, pop, country, blues, jazz and classical influences. To date, Jewel has sold over 27 million albums worldwide, enjoying career longevity rare among her generation of artists. Jewel's personal odyssey, partly chronicled by her twelve-time RIAA platinum debut album "Pieces of You" comes to full flower with her most recent Atlantic Records CD, "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland." "Goodbye Alice In Wonderland," produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls) and Jewel, is Jewel's sixth album since making her recording debut in 1995. Marking her first album in three years, "Goodbye Alice In Wonderland" is her most autobiographical work in more than a decade, tracing her path from the extreme solitude of Alaska to the extreme joys and pitfalls of fame. Its title also alludes to other fantasies: the fairy tales we are told in youth about life, love and friendship versus the more complex, and often disheartening truth. With some songs freshly written, others draw from her astounding catalog of nearly 500 original works. This album follows 2003's "0304," which debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 album chart, simultaneously becoming both the highest-debuting and highest-charting album of her career to date, while also marking her fourth album to hit the top ten on the national charts. "0304" included the top five hit single, "Intuition."
