She's not telling you the whole story, folks -- not by a long shot! Angel actually passed up an opportunity to sing the "Star Spangled Banner" at the festival (hey, I had pull at this concert and I think she could done it better than Jewel's attempt a few years back). ;-) Anyway, it was great meeting another EDA lurker after all these years. As I've always said, newbies absolutely rule this list! Amy of the Jersey Meadowlands came up for the weekend, too, and we put the finishing touches on a soon-to-be-released EveryDay Angels Foundation benefit CD featuring artists who have played at our Project Warmth concerts over the past seven years! Right now, it looks to have as many as 16 tracks, and will be released as an advance pressing in October for our two Virginia shows hosted by the Falling Mountain Record label and the THIRD annual Encinitas, CA Project Warmth show featuring Eve Selis, Randi Driscoll and the undisputed Queen of Boogie-Woogie, Sue Palmer. The weekend of these three great shows is October 21-22, and anyone within driving distance of Washington D.C., Harrisonburg or Encinitas who doesn't attend one or more of them is a big fat hairy flatulent monkey beast with poor decision making skills. And I mean that from the bottom of my everyday heart. For more details, just ask. Until then, please discuss amongst yourselves. :-) - -- Trust me. The musician-actress has signed on to host the the fifth season of USA Network's "Nashville Star" to help the search for the next country music sensation. "I grew up on a ranch in Alaska, and my favorite memories are of sitting around a camp fire with my father and listening to the songs he wrote and sang," says the singer, born Jewel Kilcher, in a statement. "It was pure country music, and it has made me a sincere fan of country music ever since. I am so excited to be part of this show, and for the chance to watch the contestants compete in this uniquely American artform." Sharing hosting duties is Cowboy Troy, billed as "the world's only six-foot-five black rapping cowboy" and the originator of "Hick-Hop." He also co-hosted alongside Wynonna Judd for the show's fourth season. The winner of the fifth season will receive a major music recording contract with a top-level record label. "Nashville Star" will broadcast live from Nashville's BellSouth Acuff Theatre beginning Thursday, Jan. 11. Jewel, 32, is a Grammy-nominated artist whose debut album "Pieces of You" went 12 times platinum. Her latest album, "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland" was released in May. Actingwise, she appeared as a guest star on the short-lived Rob Lowe drama "Lyon's Den" and made her big-screen debut in Ang Lee's "Ride With the Devil" in 1999. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Sep 2006 19:04:21 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: Re: [EDA] NJC: Great investment opportunity.... Angelica, it was a pleasure meeting you! You are a true everyday angel (if for no other reason than for putting up with Dennis and his pranks all day!). Thanks for coming out and lending a couple of hands. I had a great time. The Blues Fest (kicking off the EveryDay Angels Foundation's Project Warmth season) was a lot of fun and a big success, despite the threatening weather. There were about 300 attendees and the festival made all the local papers, radio stations and even Comcast came out to film it. We collected several large piles of coats and blankets and there were several raffles benefitting the Foundation as well as a local homeless shelter and breast cancer research. :-) Amy N.
