Did we even know this was coming? I must have missed it if we were fore-warned. Anyway, she was great! I think it was one of the most relaxed and spontaneous interviews I've seen her give in a long time. And, she looked great too. She also performed Good Day and rocked it even better than on the Craig Fergussen show. Good Day might just be a surprise as a single. I hope so. GAIW has been growing on me as one of her better CDs. She closed the show with Satellite. Rocked that one too. Go Jewel! I hope phase 2 of her tour will be even better than the dates with Rob Thomas. It could be. She'll have more stage time and be able to shape the show a little differently each night depending on the crowd, and venue, and her mood. Things could really be looking up. I'd go see her again if she's anywhere in the area. BTW, were there any EDAs in the Jimmy Kimmel crowd? Can anyone help me out with viewing it on the computer? I'm in between having a VCR or DVD recorder right now, but I could just listen to watch this performance over and over. It was probably her best performance so far this year. The new Satellite also seemed to make much more sense live. It deserves to be a rock song. Within the next few days, jimmykimmellive.net should have the Satellite performance posted, but I don't think they will have Good Day. >BTW, were there any EDAs in the Jimmy Kimmel crowd? I don't know about this, but did anyone see the tank of a guy wearing the 0304 t-shirt? It made me laugh, I love it when people break the Jewel-fan stereotype. I thought both of the performances were good...but hopefully it doesn't mean that Satellite is going to be a single? Ugh. Oh well. Good Day is growing on me! I actually like it now! Maybe it will start to take off on radio? Maybe we should all start voting for the video on Vh1? Get it played more than it is? Diana! At first during the performance I thought u were the hyper girl with the sunflowers and the photo behind Jewel, then they zoomed in and I was glad it wasn't you! The girl was trying to sing with Satellite but didn't know the words. Aw. let me shut up. P.s. I want Greg's shirt!!! (well not the one he was actually wearin, but u know what i mean...) _________________________________________________________________ Dont just search. Find. And I only caught 1/2 of Jimmy Kimmel so ditto on that. I'm starting a new business and I am losing it trying to keep up with that, much less remembering all these appearances and such! I thought it was a great performance of Good Day.... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 01 Aug 2006 22:45:17 -0700 From: "STEVEN PERKINS" Subject: [EDA] Jimmy Kimmel I just got back from the Jimmy Kimmel tapings, since you can all watch the show on TV I'll just rundown the stuff that I don't think made it on air. First, there was a little concern because right before she was to perform they couldn't find her earphones. She offered to wing it without (what a pro), but they found them in time. There was a little banter between Jimmy & Jewel prior to her performance where she complimented him on his interview skills, alluding to the fact that she didn't stick with what she said during the pre-interview. She played a total of 5 songs, the last one the crowd had a choice between "Who Will Save Your Soul" and "Intuition". To my dismay, "Intuition" won, though the crowd seemed pretty evenly split. Here's the setlist: - -"Good Day" - -"Satellite" - -"Love Me Just Leave Me Alone" (with the guitarist playing the 'broken heart intro' - -"Standing Still" - -"Intuition" Well since no one else posted about the Las Vegas show about a month ago, here's some highlights. I can't say much because What Happens In Vegas, well you know the rest. Jewel's father played a few songs for us & even joined in the yodelling. He told the crowd to STFU, sticking up for his little girl, which was pretty cool. The setlist was similar to her other shows but hell if I can remember...I mean it *was* Vegas! BTW, that makes 5 states I've seen Jewel perform in...not bad for a West Coaster! Oh yeah, much love to everyone still on the list who attened Jewelstock...even Dennis Harris! 10 years...still no 4th tape haha! Well, I guess I am the one that has to answer this one. 1) Jewel's management has nothing to do with this list. While they were on the list in some regard somewhat soon after it's inception in January 1995, and moreso an active member up to about mid-to-late 1988, they would have nothing to do with any actio on this request. 2) Jeff Wasilko (the owner of smoe.org) started this list, and it was the first list ever at smoe.org. I took it over for him in mid-1997. There are over 100 lists now hosted at smoe.org, about 80% of them female music related. 3) There ARE advantages to moving it to some web-based mailing-list/forum like the yahoo one mentioned or others quite like it, but there are disadvantages too. I won't get into either of them, at least what I see as advantages or disadvantages because... 4) I do not intend to move it over there. I just do not see an overwhelming advantage in doing so, so unless someone points out why they think it would make a world of difference all the while not causing problems not seen with the present set up, I don't think I'll do it. I do know over time there has been jewel groups/lists elsewhere, and other than the ones that are official now at jeweljk.com and the briefly very active EODA group about 7 years ago, none seemed to gain their wings. The topic IS open for discussion...I'll rad and listen to any discussion on this, Mike aka ducksoup@quackquack.net EDA (jewel@smoe.org) list "owner" ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 Aug 2006 21:28:44 -0400 From: mac14460@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Question I'll admit my ignorance in regard to "user groups."
