Remember when we used to do trees??? I'm sure there are EDAs out there with captures of all the major tv performances...if someone would be willing to gather all of the appearances and put them on a VCD or DVD I'm sure people would jump at the chance to tree. any thoughts? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Jun 2006 02:12:20 -0400 From: tcelmer1@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] music videos on DVD? Not to sound too pessimistic, but I've waited around for Atlantic to release Jewel DVDs for what seems like most of my adult life. In the ten or eleven years I've spent (lurking mostly) on this list, we've only had the pleasure of discussing talk of two "official" Jewel DVDs (L"ive At Humphrey's By the Bay" and "A Life Uncommon"). It's a crime, it's a pity, it's hurtful, and in the words of one of my all time favorite bands (Talk Talk) it's 'Such a Shame'. Even though I can be seen for split seconds on both of these offerings. Must insert this paragraph given my apparent moodiness this evening: - -----I cannot even bring myself to recognize the existence of anything offered up by Jewel Unedited as it has proven to be the worst run fan club in recorded human history. If they have in fact produced a DVD they would never send a copy to you, they would only promise it. Or they would claim it is only for folks who joined the Jewel fan club before she was born. Or they would go out of business on the day they meant to send your copy (no, I'm not bitter) :) I guess one could conceivably try to satisfy one's self with the new Target only DVD "short" that sold with GAIW, or the single Jewel performance of "Down So Long" on the Woodstock '99 DVD, or even her quick duet performance of WWSYS on the Nick and Jessica Variety Hour from 2004 as DVDs that display the talents of our commonly beloved artist. Heck, I even thought long and hard about shoplifttng for the only time in my life when I went from Radio Shack to Radio Shack beseeching managers and other employees to let me have a DVD copy of her FULL live concert tied to a Radio Shack performance and all I could do was get them to let me copy it to video. But you didn't deserve a tirade like this for a question like yours, Matt. I could better address that by saying there's been no talk I've heard of about the release of a DVD with all of Jewel's videos (though I'd pay $50 for it). All this non-Jewel-on-DVD availability is what has prompted me over the years to record and collect virtually every broadcast TV appearance Jewel has ever made (from several countries even) to the tune of likely well over 40 straight hrs of Jewel videos, perfromances, interviews, VH1 cowboy commercials, Intel chip commercials, and late night poetry readings. I've transferred all of it to DVD so I could do a dance of Joy (no pun intended). - -Tim C. - -----Original Message----- From: LENONO68@aol.com To: jewel@smoe.org Sent: Fri, 23 Jun 2006 00:35:44 EDT Subject: [EDA] music videos on DVD? Just thought I'd mention this. I've been hanging out at a very active Rob Thomas board during this tour and there have been some lament posts there wishing the official RT Fan Club was more like the Jewel one. Point is, there are always some worse, always some better. Mike ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Jun 2006 13:56:53 -0700 From: "E N" Subject: Re: [EDA] music videos on DVD? Haha ..perhaps $20. It took me a long time to actually buy the Humphrey's DVD ... I waited until it was about $12 on Amazon. Now, I'd pay $50 for maybe a 2 disc set. But they better not be 2 DVDs that are 30 min each. ;-) Elizabeth ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 23 Jun 2006 18:19:46 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: Re: [EDA] music videos on DVD? >I'm just curious to know Mike, what have they said about Jewel's fanclub? To be honest, I don't recall as I really didn't pay attention to any details. I'm not on the J fan club so it really didn't interest me. Thinking back I seem to think it was about the MB20 club.
