It was great. Jewel seemed to be in a playful mood and was having a lot of fun. It was awesome, except for the 4 very drunk girls sitting a row in front of me who wouldn't shut up at all during Jewel. Luckily they kept leaving to get more beer. I was sad because there was no 1,000 miles. But thanks to all those closer than I was who were screaming it. Jewel just chose to ignore it :( hopefully on her solo tour, which she did say she was doing next. Here is the run down, she went on at 7:30 pm and left the stage at around 8:35 pm Foolish Games Hello to the crowd make fun of late comers and inviting everyone to move forward. She even petted a security guards head. Again and Again Hands (a rocking version w/the band my husband LOVED) she asked if everyone was afraid to get close because they were afraid of her teeth. Then she told a story about how she was on a NY radio show with call ins and a women called in saying she worked for a cosmetic dentist who wanted to fix her teeth. Then she asked if anyone else worries at night and told the Good Day story. Good Day Satellite (the album version, but it sounded better live, but I still don't like this version) at the end though when she says the stuff about blank can't fix my broken heart. SHe added Angelina and Brad and their new baby Shilo who are very cute and I'm very happy for them, can't fix my broken heart....very funny) ****Now here is when she demanded everyone move forward....so I did and security wouldn't let me get any closer. There were TONS of empty seats and I was like...I'll leave when they show up....and security was like NO! But they did let lawn folks move to the back of the pavilion because this show was no where near sold out.***** Everybody needs Someone Sometimes Love Me Just Leave Me Alone Break Me---very pretty version. with the band she didn't play. **Acoustic Set, asked audience for songs. Didn't take 1,000 miles. Someone yelled free bird so she gave him the finger and said "there's your free bird, who yells free bird" then she apologized because there were kids in the audience, so she said it meant peace in a lot of countries just not here** Near You Always (For a fan who was at the show the night before and Jewel ignored her request) - ---SOmeone yelled God's Gift To WOmen, and she tried to play it, but couldn't remember the chords. so she said she would practice and defiantly put it in the set list for the next time she's there----- Here is where she told the 10 minute version of her Mexico Story with Steve. I usually won't be upset....but that meant there were only 2 acoustic songs! we all know it. She did tell people to check out the picture on Steve's web site. You Were Meant for Me **Band Returns*** Standing Still Intuition (Another lyric change instead of saying "I learned Love from Charlie Sheen...she said Ritchie Sambora...I lost it.) Who Will Save Your Soul (will she ever stop singing this live? I mean it's a good song...but I've heard every possible version of the song known to man.) That is it. A ton of people left after her set, and even more (including me) left after her duet with Rob...which wasn't even at the end of his set so I recommend people staying. It's a cover of Stop Dragging My Heart around where Jewel's voice puts Stevie Nicks to shame. Jewel defiantly should sing more hard rock songs. Move over Lita Ford.... Well A good time was had by all. I convinced my husband to spend the outrageous $55 for the Jewel hoodie. But I love it. I can't wait until she comes near me again. Hopefully it will be in Pittsburgh so I don't have to drive 2 hours to see her. But she is always worth it. Rob however, after about 30 mins I was done. It felt like the same song the entire time. I just kept singing 3am to all of his songs and guess what! It worked. Teresa ________________________________________________________________________ Check out AOL.com today. I'm from Milwaukee and I haven't been down to Chicago (for a concert that is) since Mariah Carey was at the United Center a few years back. I know that the amphitheatre is on an island or whatever, but I can't find an address anywhere for it. Not on their website, no where, it just says Northerly Island. So hopefully I'll find the damn place. I work for Live Nation, the company that owns the venue, and they couldn't even give me an exact address. Well have any of you been there? I have seats in the 200-sections. From the pictures on the website it looks like the stage is elevated pretty high, so I didn't want to get tickets right in the front so that I have tilt my head all the way back to see the woman. We should all yell out "Jupiter" when she asks for request... just an idea!!! =) _________________________________________________________________ Dont just search. Find. Hi all, It's been a great while since I read this list with any regularity and longe r since I have posted to it. I got to see the tail end of Jewel's JB set last weekend (I got there late because I didn't realize she would be going on so obscenely early), and was really just appalled to the level she has fallen to. I had initially thought this was a co-headlining tour and the venues that did not have her listed just were in error. However, it was clear that she was the opening act for this tour with barely having an hour-long set. I saw Jewel headline JB twice with some really nice crowds, and seeing her as an opening act in a half house just was really sad. Does anyone know (or care to speculate) where she is headed? Is she going to tour in the fall in smaller club/theater type venues? I really like the new record and hope it does well and that she can bounce back from this stage in her career. Yep, at least TWO since WWSYS started climbing the charts in the spring of 1996. Those two being JewelStock...both nights...she never played a note of it. As a matter of fact, of the fifty-one full songs she performed over the two nights, she played just six songs from what was then her only CD, Pieces Of You. Those six were Don't, Amen, Foolish Games, Morning Song, Angel Standing By and Near You Always. (she didn't even play You Were Meant For Me, which at the time was to be POY's second single release. As for my request that I really would want to hear. It's hard to narrow down to one. My top three (all solo acoustic) would be either Don't, Nikos or Nicotine Love and if she told me to pick one...OK, it's Nikos, with the original words. As for a "cover" she's done before , no doubt about it, it would be "Oh Holy Night"...or maybe "Happy Birthday To You" on my birthday :-) Mike ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jun 2006 08:00:09 -0400 From: "Matthew Adler" Subject: [EDA] The time Jewel typically takes the stage? I requested Nikos at her solo-accoustic show 2 years ago. Lots of people were calling out the standard concert requests like Carnivore and Race Car Driver, and songs off POY, and I kept calling out Nikos. Lara and I weren't too far from the stage and I'm sure she heard me. She sort of stopped, looked over toward us, paused, and then said something about how she really ought to be able to remember all the songs she's written. I assumed she was referring to Nikos. Maybe she was just saying that because she didn't want to play it. Maybe she just didn't remember it well enough to play. Who knows? Nikos is such a personal song. Maybe she'd have to be in just the right mood to play it. I've got the lyrics, but I've never heard the song. How's that for a hole in my Angelfood?
