He is one of those "killer prophets" that people follow and he is their god, doing whatever he says and giving him all their possessions. He lived in colorado city, arizona until the fbi started looking for him and he went underground. He is now one of fbi's 10 most wanted. When cnn went to the small town and was asking questions nobody would talk even running from the cameras. Seemed like everyone in town was a jeffs supporter. The police wouldn't even talk, like they were scared. Anyways they were talking about the cult and his beliefs and they said that his supporters could only listen to certain music. The reporter got his hands on a small booklet of cds that are ok to listen to and as he was flipping through, none were familiar to me until I spotted jewel's pieces of you. It was pretty weird. I just watched that video report on cnn.com and I got a totally different take on the approved music (although I may just be wrong). I do not think those CDs shown were ones approved by him to listen to, rather I think it was just a random shot of a CD collection. The reporter mentioned during that particular part of the clip that he (Jeffsonly approved music "made by his followers..." and "gave out recordings of his own music", so unless Jewel is one of his followers I do not think that report was conveying Jeffs approved Pieces Of You for his followers. (again, I could be wrong) The music part and the appearance of the POY CD occurs about 2:37 into the video which is viewable at CNN.com. I'm curious as to how others see this. Mike ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 May 2006 18:16:47 +0000 From: "Lauren Bennett" Subject: [EDA] atlanta/anderson concert Anderson concert: here is the set list...I might miss a few songs or they may be out of place but this is what I remember: hands (good day story) good day satellite down so long everybody needs someone sometime love me just leave me alone only one to break me solo set: little sister (drug bust story) you were meant for me Band set 2: Goodbye Alice in Wonderland Standing Still Again and Again Intuition (story about WWSYS) Who will save your soul I think this is it...I might be missing a few songs. No encore. Apparently they were rushing her off stage because train had to come on...so I was able to be front row for this concert because it was general admission. I waited outside the gates for 2 hours. When we got to the concert I was freaking out because I heard her doing her sound check...my friend thought I was crazy. I was rushing to the venue (we had to park a LONG ways from the theater). I heard her singing Long Slow Slide. My jeweldar was going off. :) when we finally got down there she was finished but her band was still on the stage. Then I got to see Toby Lightman's sound check. It was good entertainment for our wait outside the gates :) Before ENSS she forgot her words...I kept shouting them out, but alas she did not hear me :( So she invited someone up stage to sing with her...I was soo upset because the girl like 3 people down from me got to go onstage! Then she forgot the words! (I prob would to if I was in front of that many people) I think I was green with jealousy....I turned to my friend and apparently I made the most pitiful face :( So this girl got to sing with Jewel...and Jewel left the front mic to sing with her lead guitarist...so the girl was at the front mic by herself...THEN to add to my pain she got to stay backstage the WHOLE rest of the concert. Then when we were leaving I saw her and Jewel talking backstage....I was so sad...but that's ok the concert was amazing. Atlanta Concert: Jewel did not sing Again and Again or Goodbye Alice in wonderland. Here is the full set list: foolish games long slow slide deep water hands (good day story) good day (story about going to LA for the first time) satellite down so long everybody needs someone sometime love me just leave me alone break me solo set: (story about 1000 miles away) 1000 miles away Morning Song Stevenville, TX (story about cold song) cold song you were meant for me Band: Where you are standing still intuition (story about WWSYS) who will save your soul encore: somewhere over the rainbow chime bells When the lights dimmed the keyboard player came out and played the intro about four times before Jewel walked out. You could'nt see her and then she started singing foolish games and a purple spotlight came on. After a while a few of the band members started to walk on and added into the song. Then at the end the rest of the band was on stage. At times it sounded like they had her background vocals in the keyboard and they were playing them in the choruses. Long Slow Slide was AMAZING...I loved it. Also Deep Water with the band....I was in love. I've never heard it live with the band before and that is one of my favorite songs. Somewhere Over the rainbow left me speechless...It was sooo quite for Chastain Park! At the last beat of WWSYS a huge banner fell down and it had a picture of Alice in Wonderland...it kind of looked like it was based on Jewel. That just toped off the night. With the way the lights were and the very fairytale like forest background...it really felt like a production. The background looked like something strait out of Sleeping Beauty. They had really good merch BUT extremely expensive...more so than usual...the only fitted girl shirt they had was $40!! come on I'm a broke college student! They also had a gorgeous GAIW bag with a owl on it. It was only $10 but they sold out by the time I got up to the line :( So I got Toby Lightman's cd :) which is amazing!! I thought the concert was great...defiantly one of the best Jewel concerts I've been to. I had seats in ORCH L...which aren't that great...at chastain park it is really like being 20 or 30 rows back...me and my friend realized that the left terr ORCH B no one was sitting there...so we high tailed it down there to see jewel. Then it was like being in the 9 or 10 row!! I thought she did really well. Chastain has a curfew of 11. Last time she was there in August 2004 she went like 5 or 10 mins over and I think she got fined. So I guess this time they just shut off her sound. She had like 5 seconds left on Chime Bells. I think it kind of stunned her. She just stood there shrugged and waved then left. I was like DAMN who do they think they are shutting of JEWEL...don't they know she is the best effing singer in the WORLD! apparently not... who else was at these two shows?? <3 Lauren ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 May 2006 16:09:56 -0300 From: Fjjordao Subject: [EDA] Charts Again and Again is over. It fell out of Hot Ac's Top 20 so it's time for a new single - really soon! GAIW falls to #53 selling 19,665. It has sold 170,065 copies in total. They must release the next single right now, whatever it is, because the album is falling really fast... ________________________________________________ Wireless Internet Ltda -- www.wnetrj.com.br ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 May 2006 20:21:46 EDT From: NeOblCar@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Charts In a message dated 5/31/2006 3:13:34 PM Eastern Daylight Time, fjjordao@wnetrj.com.br writes: Again and Again is over. I think so too but then I remember another favorite of mine from the past several months - Shakira's Oral Fixation Vol. 2. "Don't Bother" fell off the charts by January and the CD was fading away. Then they seemingly let it sit for 5-6 weeks and then followed up with "hips don't lie" Sometimes I think a little time in between can help sell more CDs in the end. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 May 2006 21:43:20 -0400 From: mac14460@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel can't save this guy's soul I have to agree with Mike on this one. I think the CDs seen as the person was flipping through the CD case, were probably for illustrative purposes only. Probably just someone's random CD collection. Good to see POY is out there. It's a staple in lots of people's collections. How many copies has that CD sold now? Somewhere in the neighborhood of 18-20 million? I really don't know. Besides, if you watch the CNN report and listen to what this idiot is saying about the races, he can't possibly be a fan of songs which mock intolerance like, POY and Daddy. It's scary to know people like that are out there. That's my 2 cents.
