(and who is going to chicago) I usually buy several sets of tickets but this year only the chicago show is close enough to drive (especially considering the show is split headliners). Anyway I was at a meeting when the tickets went on sale for the Chicago show and didn't get back until about an hour and 15 minutes after they had been on sale. I ended up with section 103, row Q (I think it was Q.. whatever is 17th row)... I also got seats near the middle of section 103. In years past, I have always gotten incredible tickets from unedited.. I can't remember the last time I sat further back than 3rd row.. usually not center, but I've had front row tickets many many times. So anyway, I was just wondering if anyone that used unedited got decent seats this year, especially for the chicago show. I'm definately going to try to get some seats when they go on sale-public and I'll be looking for better seats in general.. but I'm not going to complain :) Also if anyone wants to get together prior to the chicago show I imagine that Cassie and I will make a weekend out of it so we could do late lunch/dinner with a group... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2006 19:10:08 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel songs on American Idol? I never saw any of the first season, but have seem all the episodes since and have never heard an audition or finalist performance of a Jewel song. SOME finalists though have listed Jewel as a fave artist on their bio, including an early eliminated finalist this season, so I held out hopes one would take a crack at a Jewel song but none so far. She totally left it alone... but I can see how the couple piano touches could make you barf... no... acutally not. you guys are absolutely ridiculous. seriously, the only reason pieces of you was as low key as it is, is because of lack of money. and jewel will probably always have money from here on out... sorry to burst your bubble. these versions of the songs are probably what jewel always had in her head when she wrote them... she just now was able to produce them how she wanted. i'm happy for her... this album is fantastic. i just wonder when being a fan turned into only liking when they do what you want. celebrities shouldn't have minds of their own. fuck. Alas... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Apr 2006 20:12:54 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: Re: [EDA] dreadful overproduction Historically, my least favorite time on this list is the couple of weeks before and after Jewel releases a new album. I haven't heard a note yet from this new album so I cannot pass any personal judgement on any of it, but one thing that pretty much always rankled me (in the past) is people calling some songs "over produced" when if you ask me or most people they were not "over produced" at all. I swear sometimes people think if there is ANYTHING in a Jewel song that is not guitar, voice or piano that it is over produced. The main reason I say that right now is that so far there have been at LEAST four reviews of this new album's cut of 1000 Miles Away *on this list* and all of them said she barely touched it. It's clear to me we all have a very different definition of "over produced". > I couldn't take more than a few seconds of each song before Freckledangel (I won't use your real name as you did not in your post), I've ALWAYS liked you on this list and always will and I remember our too long ago AOL IMs fondly, but I'm thinking that maybe you should listen to more than a few seconds of each song before tear the album a new you-know-what? :-) Plus, from my experience of listening to MANY online song clips of songs I grew up with, the 30 second or so (if that) clips are almost always a part of the song that is the heaviest in "produced" as it typically makes the "best" sound clip. I'm guessing you'll like the entire CD a lot "more" if you give it a second chance and more than 30 seconds or so :-) Mike ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V11 #104 ****************************
