On his website it says he's "Taking" Jewel on tour with him. "ROB IS BACK ON TOUR!!!!! Rob goes back on the road to continue the hugely successful "...Something To Be" Tour. He is taking Jewel out with him this time. Check the "Tours" section for dates and locations. Tour starts on May 23rd." You know, I realize every artist that tours with another artist has to decide who goes first..and I realize that there is another artist touring as well.. Toby Lightman. But WHO decides who headlines??? I once purchased tickets for Tori and heard that Alanis was playing. I almost fell over when Tori opened for her. Now dont get me wrong, Alanis is ok, but for me, I was the Tori fan and felt insulted in a way. If Jewel opens for Rob then for me, the Jewel fan, will definately feel jipped. Thats just my 2 cents. Last time out, Jewel called on dance beats and pop irony to save her from singer-songwriter tedium. Goodbye Alice in Wonderland, her sixth album, restores some the of tedium, sprinkling acoustic introspection into folk-pop tunes gratuitously beefed up with studio glass and song-doctor steriods. The result is mildly icky, with Jewel murmuring about the "inertia of loneliness" and stretching her thing voice past its limits on the huge choruses. A handful of songs - including the breezy, pretty title track - work up some palatable L.A. pop, but those moments are surrounded by singer-songwriter cliches and painfully precious asides. The most unfortunate sequence starts with "Good Day", where Jewel stages an early-morning conversation with herself in a baby-doll murmur, then follows up with a warbling rocker about how Hollywood is full of phonies and crazies.
