Ok, after a long struggle to find the leak, I finally have heard the entire new album. I'm pleasantly suprised with it... the way that the media was making it out to be was something really stripped down, like Pieces of You. Now I wasn't too big of a fan of that CD, so I was worried that I wouldn't like this one. The album is stripped down from 0304, but it is hardly POY-ish. In fact, I'd say is a cross between This Way and 0304. Either way, it's very refreshing. The only song to really dissappoint me was "Good Day". I can see why they didn't put it out as the first single now. It's so much better acoustic. I don't hate it, but I didn't like it like I was sure I would. Only One Too is kick ass. It's very Kelly Clarkson-ish...both with the lyrics and the sound. It reminds me of a song she has called "Come Here". Words Get In The Way is just as great as it was live. Where You Are translated well. Drive To You (I'll always think of it as I Belong With You), is also really good, but the chorus feels a little rushed. I'm about to write the lyrics down to Only One Too and Words... cause I know they haven't show up online yet, I'll post when I'm done. Weather this album does well or not, I think it's her best release. _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! I come closer but you push me away. I should leave but I don't have the strength. I can't think. Please can't you see that I am down on my knees. My heart's in your hand and you squeeze. I want the whole thing but you give me a part. It's time you start. So I push and I pull And I don't know which way to go //CHORUS Stop me, stop me from falling Cause you can see, see where this is going If you love me, why do you leave me If you need me Then I love you only when I am the only one too.// I just can't make you understand I want you're heart but you hold up you're hand You say space is what you need But you want me to be true to just you While you get to do whatever you want to CHORUS You'll never stop It's gotta change You don't want a lover you want a world of slaves. I can't resist falling into those arms Those boyish charms You think I won't leave You're so good but not so good I can see CHORUS x2 _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Oh oh oh Say you're still my man I try to find the words to say That I want you always to stay To wake up with every single day But words get in the way Words get in the way// Tell you're boss you're dead. Plus it had a corner of it dedicated to advertising other musical artists (looks like it would change periodically) and I didn't much care for that aspect of it. Must be others felt the same way since you said you haven't seen one anywhere. I agreed with the individual song reviews by Mark (especially the confusion regarding "Fragile Heart" - it's basically the same, but no whistling ;-) ) and Matt, but thought I'd throw in my two cents in a few of Matt's comments. Unlike Mark, however, I didn't like the revamped "Stephenville, TX." I've always thought of the song as Dylan-esque in style and now it's a country song. =\ On 4/24/06, Matt Sullivan wrote: > > Ok, after a long struggle to find the leak, I finally have heard the > entire > new album. It was not really POY-ish, which was the impression I got from all the reviews and hoopla. Oh well. It's fine as it is. Only One Too is kick ass. It's very Kelly Clarkson-ish...both with the > lyrics and the sound. It reminds me of a song she has called "Come Here". I agree on this point too! I think this would be a great second single. I think this may be the first Jewel song that is truly "contemporary." I can easily see this on the radio. I can also see it in a teen romantic comedy though (I don't know if that;s a good thing ;-) ) But I really like this song nonetheless! Last few comments: Though I love 1000 Miles Away, it really does stick out. Individually, I love it. It's still simplistic and lovely as it's ever been. I'm not sure if I like the album yet. I like the songs individually. But as a whole album, it feels quite schizo. It's all over the place! I suppose that may reflect Jewel's career so far, but it still makes for a strange listen. IMO anyway. I need to listen to the album as a whole again. =) Elizabeth ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Apr 2006 18:48:45 GMT From: "casper31@juno.com" Subject: Re: [EDA] Jewel on myspace check out jewel's number 1 friend on myspace!! its a pipe cleaner jewel! http://www.myspace.com/lilpipepeople - -- Jenn wrote: It took awhile for Jewels site to add me but they did.
