Speaking of reading into things, a list member ent me the downloaded versions, and I uploaded from those. And what pesonal gain do I have from getting people to visit the videos? I coud care less if I have a lot of visitors to my "personal YouTube account," consideringI made it exressly to put up those videos. There are no false pretenses. So, yes, maybe you should chill out. But here I go... First off, someone said that they weren't happy with the "lack of promotion" for this album. I agree with this in some ways, and I also disagree. I know the album comes out in about a week, and that most people don't know (other than "fans"), that she has one coming out. I remember three years ago when it seamed she was on virtually every TV show promoting 0304. I think more people need to know that her cd is coming out. On the other hand, I think that with all the negetive press that 0304 got, that this album needs to speak for itself. I'd rather see it get rave reviews than sell millions of copies. But, I think she still has a strong following, and I'm sure that the album with either debut at number one or two, depending on how well Pearl Jam does. (both cd's come out on may 2). Either way I'm sure atleast a top 5 debut. This tour with Rob Thomas. At first I was strongly against it, I thought I was just a big thing by Atlantic to boost ticket sales for both of the artists. Now I actually like the idea. (I found out it was Rob that sings "Ever the Same", and now i like him =] ). First of all, it's going to allow both of them to perform for a few thousand people that normally wouldn't go to see them. This will surely help them move some albums. Also, they're hitting amphitheatres, so it will be nice to see her play a larger venue then she normally would. It will also be interesting to see the production of the show. As far as "Again and Again" is doing on radio, it's doing like "Standing Still" and "Intuition" did when they were first released. It's only been out for two months, that seams like a long time, but it really isn't. Teddy Geiger's song has been out for longer than that, and it's only starting to really pick up right now. As soon as the album is out, I'm sure that more radio stations will pick it up, and play it often. She has never had a hard time having a HUGE first single when she releases and album. But then again, this might be her CD that only has a mildly successful first single, and then the second is a smash. That might not be a bad thing, as it will keep the cd selling. Jessica Simpson barely broke into the Top 40 with "Sweetest Sin", and then her album was considered a failure and stopped selling. Well remember "With You"? That was the second single and it was HUGE and helped the album to sell 3 million copies. NOW, THE NJC: I'm kinda confused. Why the hell are Fiona Apple and Ashlee Simpson both doing amphitheatre tours this summer? Don't get me wrong, I think Fiona Apple is AMAZING, and Ashlee Simpson is pretty cool too. (don't send me hate mail on that one =] ). But come on. I hardly think that Fiona Apple is going to draw more than a couple of thousand people to theses shows. And I saw Ashlee Simpson in an arena last month, and there were only 1,500 in attendance. 1,500 people in an arena. Why not tour in venues that are smaller, and where the people that do come can actually hear you? KELLY F**CKING CLARKSON. It's so nice to see that she is doing a HUGE tour. (Even though it is the third tour for Breakaway...). She deserves everything that is coming to her. Everyone thought she was gonna be an American Idol winner, have a few cd's, and then be done. Well Breakaway is an AMAZING cd... (you know it is, don't hate!!! don't even lie and say you don't jam when "Walk Away" comes on!!!)... She is a little overplayed, but who cares. She's doing her thing, writing most of her songs, and kicking ass. I can't wait for her new cd. (I have her full Nashville Concert from the Hazel Eyes tour on DVD if anyone wants a copy.) Hmmm. that's pretty much it I think... OH ONE MORE THING.. All these artists on tour and most of them are skipping Milwaukee this summer!! Kelly Clarkson!! Jewel!! BEP!! WTF?!?!?!? ugh. I'm glad Chicago is only an hour away. p.s. I REALLY NEED A JOB OR IM NOT GOING TO SEE KELLY OR JEWEL THIS SUMMER!!! NO ONE WANTS TO HIRE ME!!! ANY SUGGESTIONS / IDEAS? lemme know =] _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! I have to disagree with your thoughts on the song climbing the charts slower than usual for Jewel. Actually, to me tit seems to be right on track. I haven't been able to find it yet, but I had an Excel spreadsheet in the mid-to-late 90s that tracked the weekly positions of Jewel's songs on the charts. I recall they all slowly rose (I can picture the graph now) , then they seemed to plateau at the 20-30 mark for a while, then began a rise again to the top 10 or top 5. It was like a four month (or more) process for all of the songs. I think I had this spreadsheet for the POY releases through the first two releases of Spirit. Mike P.S. By the way Scott, been meaning to say for a while that it's nice to have you back. and so active on the list again. :-) I'm thinking you took 2 or 3 years off. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Apr 2006 17:04:56 +0430 From: Santee Subject: [EDA] Rumor Control... I was wondering if anyone is making plans to go yet. ALso, to my wonderful NYC angels, Are you going to the wantagh show? Maybe it will be warmer than it was duing the 0304 tour. But since people like you continue to flame away I will once again point out the fact that everyone on this list was already aware of these videos and had already seen them. But Scott decided to make copies of these videos and upload them to YouTube to promote his links while at the same time violating a number of copyright laws. So, yes, this was a case of self promotion that didn't have a lot of consideration for Jewel or her music or her record company. So, if you want to continue a flame war on the Jewel list at least get the facts straight. Johnnie On 22 Apr 2006 at 18:16, Matt Sullivan wrote: > I hardly think Scott is promoting his own interests. I was NOT AWARE of these videos, nor had I seen them, and had it not been for him, I wouldn't have. So don't speak for people on this list when you don't talk to half of them. I have personally spoken to SEVERAL other people who had not know of and wouldn't have seen the videos if it wasn't for him. He didn't have a lot of consideration for Jewel? Posting these videos are directly helping to promote her album. The more people the see these videos, the more people that will potentially buy her CD. If you have a personal problem with Scott, keep it off the list. Don't feel that you are obligated to speak for anyone else on this list. So perhaps you should get you're facts straight. Any other issues with me reguarding this issue can be addressed to my personal email, not the list. Thank you. >From: "Johnnie J.
