So, I got another e-mail from Unedited yesterday about contest winners, etc. and it said to go to Jewel's official My Space page (with a link) for tour dates, etc. THERE it has the 6/16 show that the other list was missing? Aren't they both done by the Unedited ppl? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Apr 2006 06:05:52 -0400 From: Scott Subject: [EDA] Re: More Jewel on YouTube First, way more people use YouTube and the exposure is way greater. Second, people with Macs, a growing segment of the market, can't use Music Video Zone. Trust me, I know. Young" Subject: [EDA] Re: More Jewel on YouTube Well, no doubt more people use YouTube, so if you want to post lots of Jewel's videos on YouTube so that people on YouTube will see her then that's great. But when you post to this group where everyone is already a Jewel fan and say "Hey, I uploaded the Yahoo! performances onto YouTube so you all can put them on your blogs, Myspaces, and Friendsters" as if you couldn't already do that from Music Video Zone with much better versions that haven't been down-converted to YouTube Flash files, then I feel the need to point out your misleading statement. And as far as your most recent comment that people with Macs can't use Music Video Zone that's just ridiculous. I also own a Mac and I have friends who own Macs and we can all use Music Video Zone just fine. Oh, and I guess I should point out that you obviously also have the ability to use Music Video Zone since you downloaded Jewel's videos from there. I've really enjoyed this list so far, mainly because I haven't came across people sending out messages acting like they are high and mighty. I believe that they got the videos from me anyway, not Music Video Zone (I had never heard of it until you started going on and on about it), since I downloaded them all from Yahoo myself and then uploaded them to MegaUpload to give the download links out to people here. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Apr 2006 13:00:12 -0700 From: "Johnnie J. Don't read tone or emotion into a message that wasn't there. As far as I'm concerned, people can do whatever they want to promote Jewel, her videos, etc. But if someone posts something factually incorrect on the list for their own personal gain, e.g. getting people to post more links to their personal YouTube account under false pretenses then I am going to point that out. If that bothers you then I think that says more about you than me. Johnnie On 21 Apr 2006 at 15:00, lumkinsc98@aol.com wrote: > Johnnie, just calm down, ugh. I don't need for Jewel to be a Number One artist or anything, but I feel like she has Irving Azoff and Atlantic Records both asleep at the whee. Disagree if you'd like, but she hasn't even charted on the Hot 100 yet, she's not even top FIFTEEN of the Hot AC chart, a chart she used to TOP without any effort...all with the album coming one week from Tuesday. I don't feel like it's going to do that well, and that sucks because it has "Satellite" and "Last Dance Rodeo" and "1000 Miles Away"...some of her BEST songs ever written. Oh well, sales aren't everything. But I'm sad there's no buzz around Jewel right now. - -- Scott http://www.scottanthony.org/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Apr 2006 19:02:59 -0400 From: Scott Subject: [EDA] Positive 'Goodbye Alice' review in EW There's a great review of Goodbye Alice in Wonderland in the new EW. I didn't expect it yet. JEWEL Goodbye Alice in Wonderland Say what you will about Jewel, that much-mocked poetess with the burlesque body, but it turns out that she's at least halfway in on the joke: "So why not follow me, the blond bombshell deity?/I'll see you neat ideas without big words/And a little bit of cleavage to help wash it all down," she croons tartly on "Stephenville, TX." Sincerity is still her main trade, as are showbiz-as-Hades tropes and romantic confessionals. But somewhere beneath the Lilith earnestness glints something sharper.
