It's catchy & has great lyrics. And the album IS new, since most of the songs were never actually released until now. Again & Again can grow on you. Just listen to it a few times, & I'll bet you'll start to like it. When 0304 came out(which I also happen to like), many people complained that it was so different from her previous music that we've all come to know & love. And now that she might be going back to the "old Jewel", you complain again. That makes no sense whatsoever. Jewel wanted to release some of the songs she's written & performed but never recorded/released, so that's what she's doing. Do you realize she has HUNDREDS of songs that we've never even heard? I'll bet she'll record at least a few more albums with those songs. All artists try something different with their music from time to time, because let's face it... doing the same thing over & over gets boring after a while. So my suggestion to you is, give the new album a chance. You're dissing it before you've even heard it! Don't judge a book by its cover *wink* - --------------------------------- Visit my forums! http://darkangelfans.proboards43.com http://www.geocities.com/sasafrass452/darkangel.html http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/The_Evidence Pixi42@aol.com wrote: >i wasnt going to say anything because i figured i would get slammed with >opposition but...I think this song is crap. i think the lyrics are trite >and i >cannot believe they are jewel's. i think the song is waaay too poppy and the >same as every other song i change when it comes on the radio. i am extremely >disappointed. also i am confused about a few things...jewel said in an >interview that this "new" album is kind of storylike and in order >etc...half of the >songs on this record, if the setlist that was posted recently is correct, >are > old songs...i also dont get why it took so long to put it out when there are > only 6 or less new songs...yeah yeah she has a life too i know... :) i >love jewel and she has done many amazing things for my life, but i did not >like >0304. the lyrics on that were cliche and simple rhyming shmutz and if this >again and again song is a reflection of the rest of the new songs on gaiwl i >guess i will be disappointed again. i just dont understand how you can go >from >writing such clever lyrics like in nicotine love, buttercup, walk away and >even the old songs she put on this new record to lyrics like again and >again..... > >In a message dated 2/18/06 1:45:12 AM Eastern Standard Time, >owner-jewel-digest@smoe.org writes: > > >Subject: [EDA] Re: again and again > > >I can't believe you all love this song. I don't care if the music is new or old, I'm excited for a new album either way :). I have found that with all of her CD's (even POY) there were songs that I didn't like but eventually grew on me (including WWSYS--i hated that song for a long time lol). When I first heard Again and Again I didn't really like it but it *totally* grew on me and now I find it stuck in my head a lot (someone else on the list said the same thing). Anyway that's my 1/2-franc on this matter P.S. I made it to my new home state in 1 piece! (and so did most of my things lol) P.S.S. I hope I didn't confuse anyone w/ my last email about my email change...I wasn't planning on leaving the list (just switching emails on it). The post was just for those that have my email address in their address books to update and to let everyone know that I will no longer be in CA and that I am in WA--really close to Portland OR (I am **SO** going to miss the easy access to Jewel's concerts...she *always* comes to CA--plus its freezing here!). Smiles and blessings, Melissa :) Sasafrass wrote: I happen to like this song. It's catchy & has great lyrics. And the album IS new, since most of the songs were never actually released until now. Everybody is wanting the 'album of the dreams'... when we like an album it's not only our fault, not the album... it's a "meeting" that went right... the atmosphere of the album and our feelings and experiences at that moment... why to expect that every album be the same meeting if we change? Bravo. I totally agree with you on this and couldn't have put it better or more diplomatically myself. Jewel has been very good to us by touring as much as she has. Allowing her albums to be produced at all is a sin in some peoples eyes but I think it is necessary in order for Jewel to expand her fanbase. I believe she is keeping true to herself and to us, her loyal fans but she is opening that door again to reach more people. And we all want that :) "Dine :o)" wrote: "I loved it when I heard it live, but the single is way over produced." .....I think it's better to don't expect Jewel to release an acoustic album every time she releases something... we can listen to Jewel live always, you can go to concerts, and many of us can listen to mp3 of these concerts... let Jewel release an album that can be listened to other people beyond EDAs... let she play on the radio and do merchandise of her album... is what she tells on the letter, ya?
