CD Baby and MySpace are great resources for finding talented musicians. Also, if you are in an urban area, finding house concert series are great way to get introduced to independent artists. Also, Antje Duvekot is, in my opinion, one of the best emerging singer-songwriters out there. I happen to be friends with her and she is truly amazing. She has such an incredible way with words and writes beautiful melodies. She has been opening for Ellis Paul quite a bit in 2005, and will be doing so more in 2006. Interestingly enough, Patty Griffin used to open for Ellis Paul when she was starting out in the early 90s. Here's hoping Antje will follow in her footsteps! (Patty is a major influence for Antje too - as she is for many singer-songwriters). There's plenty of great music out there - you just can't let the record company execs try to tell you what it is!
