If you would be such a person may we get an update as to what you've been up to since you last posted? We are not above begging... >> Hi All, It has been a long time, hasn't it? What have I been up to? Well... I spent a year or so just decompressing... For the most part, we're doing ok. Scraping by like the majority of people we know. Looking for more work. Bummed about the pathetic state of the music industry, but still having fun with our little piece of it. In the early stages of launching B.A.M. (Bershaw Archive Management) to pursue archive management and consultant work with a few additional artists. Otherwise, enjoying time on Cape Cod as often as possible and we added a golden retriever puppy to the family last year. Named him "Wilson," in honor of Brian Wilson (particularly his music prior to his meltdown around 1967.... ) People tend to think we named him after the volleyball in that Tom Hanks' Marooned movie or the nieghbor that peered over the fence in Home Improvement, but no.... And we discovered monogrammed tennis balls are everywhere.... Listening to a lot of new music lately. As you probably suspect, that includes piles of Jewel sessions from the past year or so. Enough intriguing new material for several albums. Also helping her explore her vast unreleased back catalogue and logging tour tapes. Come to think of it, a lot of my friends are currently working on new albums or are about to release them. It's an exciting time in that respect. Cindy Lee Berryhill is currently recording her next album in Escondido and Joy Eden Harrison is working on her next one in Chicago. Lenedra Carroll is also recording extensively for a new project. Looking forward to all of those. Allison Crowe, who's entourage I finally had the pleasure to hang with when she swung through the area late last year, is about to release her next, a 2CD live set. A copy is on the way so I'll be listening to that soon. We featured Allison years ago when I was doing the guest artist thing on J's site and she is worth looking into if you haven't already. Jody Blackwell, who performed at several of the New England area Living Room Tour shows when she was just starting out, recently released a new album called "Good Again." The title song floored me the first time I heard it. I've listened to that tune at least a 100 times and I still want to hear it again. Finding that kind of depth in a song is a beautiful thing. Another LRT fave, Jason Mraz, soars onward and upward. He just finished up his next album and Cowboy Junkies just put out a new one with some surprising covers that I'm enjoying. And my favorite singer of all time, Sandy Denny, finally had her solo album catalogue remastered this year -- and its about time! Thanks to my niece and her husband who turned me on to bit torrent technology a few years ago, I've been heavy into that the past few years and love it. We're all actively sharing vintage live recordings with thousands of people efficiently and in perfect quality. And I'm finding plenty of vintage recordings that I'm interested in. I have boundless interest in the performances of Miles Davis and I can find unreleased live recordings that I've never heard on a near daily basis. Gotta love it... I haven't crossed paths with many EDAs lately, other than Amy N who dropped by late last year and Duff is stopping off for a visit here later this week. (fyi, Duff is the girl who's email to this list back in early 1996 triggered Jewelstock, although she was too young at the time and in Kansas, so she didn't get to go! She made up for it when she later became road manager for the second summer Living Room Tour.) It's been a few years since I've seen her and looking forward to the visit... Hope I run into some more of you before too long. It's bound to happen, right? That's my stream of unconsciousness update. I'm off to take Wilson to a local dog park so he can get covered with slobber and run to the point of collapse with his canine colleagues. Take care, Alan NP: Jody Blackwell: Good Again ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Jun 2005 09:57:45 -0600 From: "Ashley Ascione" Subject: [EDA] Hmmm... I have a random question for everyone. I live in the middle of nowhere Idaho (Idaho State U), and the nearest big town is either Boise or Salt Lake...any predictions on whether Jewel will make it out here to the wild wild west? I still have that extra row J seat. The concert is tomorrow at Thousand Oaks. I've heard it is a good venue, so it should be a good show. ~Elizabeth ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V10 #144 ****************************
