Today's Subjects: ----------------- [EDA] new concert jewel announced in US ["Michiel" ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 8 Apr 2005 13:46:29 +0200 (CEST) From: "Michiel" Subject: [EDA] new concert jewel announced in US NEWS SUN STAFF REPORT WAUKEGAN Grammy-nominated pop star Jewel and Grammy-winning pop veteran Rick Springfield are the latest additions to the Genesee Theatre's list of coming attractions. Theater officials announced Wednesday that Jewel has been scheduled for a single performance July 23, and Springfield is slated to be on the marquee Sept. 23, also for a one-night-only appearance. Tickets for the Jewel performance are slated to go on sale April 16 at both the Genesee box office and through Ticketmaster, with prices set at $35.50 and $45.50. Born Jewel Kilcher in 1974, the singer's 10-year recording career includes such hits as You Were Meant For Me, which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal, and Who Will Save Your Soul. Her albums have sold a reported 25 million copies. Tickets for the Rick Springfield performance are also scheduled to go on sale April 16, priced at $32 and $42. Springfield, 55, enjoyed his biggest success in the early 1980s, when Jessie's Girl won a Grammy for Best Male Vocal Performance and he starred on the ABC soap opera General Hospital as Dr. Noah Drake. In recent years, Springfield headlined a music-and-effects show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Later this month, he plans to release a 42-song anthology Written in Rock, with songs dating back to 1970. A U.S. tour in support of the CD began in February and continues through September.
