What the record-industry haven4t got yet is that everything spins so much faster these days. If an artist put out a record every 3 years people loose intrest. I agree that it is wrong to sell bootlegs and make a profit on Jewels music but if she allowed open taping I bet the fans would stick around. I really didn4t like the last album. It was heavily compressed and the music isn4t my kind of music. The few songs I have heard from the tour is the only reason I am still looking forward to a new album. She is sooooooo great live and if she allowed open taping many, many more would get a chance to hear that and probably buy a ticket the next time she passes through their town. A band like Phish didn4t sell 60 000 tickets to their farewell show because they made great albums. They sold those tickets because they where a great live-act. People knew this how???. Beacause they downloaded shows from the internet or swapped tapes before that and heard for themselves. Their fans spread the word using the music. If Jewel doesn4t let people know how good she is as a live-act she is dead as a artist. No one will buy a album just because she made a great one in -95. It doesn4t work that way any more. To Jewels management I have only one thing to say. WAKE UP, you are killing your own artist.
