I caught the "Wizard of Oz" benefit stage musical on television in 1995, and I was really impressed by the girl playing Dorothy for having the courage to take on such a classic song. Anyway, it took me a week or so to find anything on "Jewel" -- and the first I thing I found was this mailing list! (It's actually a bit embarrasing as I had just begun designing web sites, and didn't think to use the web to search until a week had gone by... duh.) I met my first couple of dozen EDAs within a month or two (at the "Jewel Rocks the Paradise" event in Boston), caught her opening for Neil Young, then Bob Dylan, then attended two shows at a weekend drop-in at Bearsville (aka "JewelStock"). More importantly, at Bearsville I met folks like Mike Connell, AmyJo and Alan Bershaw, the Campbells, Amy Neufeld and her mom, Liz, the Snyders, Proven, Jared and most of the other nut-jobs who originally populated this list. Somewhere Over the Rainbow, indeed. Harris. I'm sorry I dont have a place of my own to host LRCs, I'm sorry my parents never got the whole Jewel thing or the EDA thing. I'm sorry I can't afford to rent a hotel for 200 or fly the ancient EDAs Florida. I can cook a little bit, but at this point offering to help organize a EDA gathering is 110% of the effort I can put into such an event. Short of Tammy and Rob, I'm the only one trying to set up an EDA gathering, thats more then I can say for most. Thanks for setting up Bearsvile for so many years! Wish I could come. I've met 1 EDA in the last 5 years and that took 6 months of work just to convince my parents she wasnt crazy and we were only friends. Eliot __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I am offended! I've never been called "folk" in my life. == Rob == ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Jan 2005 15:37:50 EST From: W1GGY2@aol.com Subject: [EDA] Old Timers Since a bunch of old time EDA's are popping their ugly heads in lately ;-) I thought I would announce that Dan Stark who produced the Rare Angels and Radio Angels compilations and who many of you met at Jewelstock or other events just got engaged to Leif Yu. Though Leif was never a Jewel fan, her brother was an EDA and Leif first met Dan in the old IRC Jewel chat room about 5 or 6 years ago. I'm really excited for them as they have become very good friends of mine! Dan is no longer on the list but I'm sure some of you are still in touch with him and many of you know Leif as well. If anyone needs their email addys contact me privately. :-) Amy N. www.edaf.org ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V10 #2 **************************
