Helloooo? *doh* My last post was actually rhetorical... That is, I really am convinced this list is soulless, we are actually planting turnips (you know, the vegetables), that we should care about as much (or, in this case, as little) about Jewel as she cares about us, and I was, at the time I wrote the email, vigorously slamming my head onto my desk. I think you guys thought I was being metaphorical or something. Nope! Jewel's management will NOT show us any attention unless we pay them (handsomely) to do so. Of course, it would have to be in certified funds as they trust us about as much as they trust themselves. Face it, Jewel's management team -- the people she wants running her career - -- are not the sort of folks you'd want to deal with anyway. But they're not the problem. It's Jewel. She's the one that's bailed -- on Soul City, the EDAs and her loyal fanbase, her high minded principles -- and abandoned the performer/fan relationship we had. Mr. BB (Alan) ain't coming back, either. Jewel's in "cash out money mode", until she decides otherwise. Does anyone think Nedra and Jewel will EVER hold that second "we're definitely doing this again" JewelStock-type event? Not unless tickets are $150 each, and they can sell enough popcorn and drinks to satisfy her team of accountants. It's enough to make you want to wrap that "velvet rope" around someone's neck! My point is that WE are the goldmine here, NOT Jewel. Christ, she's just an entertainer, and an underachieving one at that. (No one really thinks she's recently been anywhere near her potential, right?) Not that she doesn't have the right to do whatever she chooses -- and we have the right to no longer care what she is doing. I do care what this list is doing, however. How is everyone this fine holiday week? :-) Harris. Trust me (tm) -- the enema offer was genuine, as well... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Dec 2004 08:30:56 -0500 From: "Kristen E Kelley" Subject: [EDA] NJC: Is it me, or the current mindset on this list?!? Hello to all! All I have to say is that I agree with what's been said (and I've been to the forum to prove it) EDA's started back when Jewel needed this fan base to get her where she is now, and this new management has completely ignored this fact, and us! We are the ones who drove for hours to see her in small dank clubs, and in random cities, and I'm certainly not saying I deserve something for that. I think Jewel and her new management need to see that we are a gold mine here, and maybe it's up to us to do that! Stuff like the forum is a great way to start...only 24 people have voted.....please tell me there are more than 24 people on this mailing list....if not I can host you all in my apartment!! :-) We are still a force! Lets kick it into high gear!! We need to get moving again too, meeting up before Jewel shows, and talking about what we need from each other to stay connected, also we all have to realize that with Jewel recording a new album and NO ONE giving us any info about it, we're all frustrated, and finding it hard to figure out what to talk about. Also...EDAF....just think about the great things that have come from this list. People who have gotten together to make an impact on this world, people who would have never met if it weren't for Jewel. I know she still has the power to imapact us all, and we each have to try to hold onto that until she comes back to us (or at least her management gets their sh*t in gear. Happy Holidays to all, hope those of you in the midwest are doing well with the frigid weather, I never thought I'd see the day where Dallas, TX is MUCH colder than here in Boston, MA. Somebody said we used to discuss our lives on here, so I'm gonna try to kickstart that again. I graduated from College a year ago Since then, This summer I started working on my Florida teaching certification. I only have 1 more test to take. Then the fun started! Hurricane Charley blew through... I started Graduate school two weeks later. Then we had 2 MORE Hurricanes, my grandfather died right before Frances. I ended the semester with a 3.7 GPA (3.5 in Graduate level work) and last week I got accepted to Graduate School at UCF. Still waiting on my GRE scores =( but school starts January 10th. Hey Jewelfans, First of all, will it be a jewel wise year in 2005 or not?? The more i feel about it, the less i care about it... I don't see any performances listed, her site is down, my site is down.. I guess 2004 was one of the more terrible years of jewel's carreer or she is having her big break again. when will she get babies?? I think it is time for her little lover to make her pregnant joke.. but i have lost a little the passion about jewel...i never had such big break since spirit.. but i guess we have to accept it, as i foresee it no jewel things happen in 2005... wish jewel a good carreer though michiel a former fan known as dutchjewelfan ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Dec 2004 21:07:25 -0200 From: "Fabio \(WNET\)" Subject: [EDA] What to do? What is there to be done? How can we let Jewel know that we are not happy with the way weve been treated? Mike, do you know a way we can send her these recent emails? She needs to know our true feelings. She hasnt sent us any kind of message in a long time. Last year we didnt receive a happy 2004 letter like we have always received and I doubt we will this time. Jewel has got to know shes losing her most hardcore fans because of her lack of interest in them. I know her management sucks royalty, but she also could do something but she doesnt seem to want to. Maybe shes just tired of the whole music business and wants to stay as far as possible from it, who knows? At least she could say that to us Or maybe we can, somehow, spark that light in her again.
