You know, where the militant agnostic of the list organizes a listwide gift exchange for Christmas, Yule, Winter Solstice, or whatever. I think this is the third year of the exchange. The last two have been lots of fun, many EDAs have found new friends, cool gifts and have been amazingly cured of their aliments (okay, I have no proof of that last one, but hey.....) So, start sending me your emails. For those new to the exchange, here's how things work ... 1. If you want to play, email me (rawhite78@aol.com) with "White Elephant" in the subject line. Needed information includes your real name, your actual mailing address, email address, and if you are willing to ship overseas. That last item is very important! Last year we had several overseas EDAs play, and I hope for more this year. To be eligible to receive a gift from overseas you must be willing to ship overseas, fair is fair. The rules are simple: Your name will be assigned to another player. You will be assigned the name of one of the players. I will draw the names from a hat and each person playing will have a name assigned to them ... you will send a gift to your assigned person and you will receive a gift from another person playing, but it won't be the one you sent yours to ... This is supposed to be Fun! Find something around your house. DO NOT BUY A GIFT! Find something around your house that you think someone else might like to have, or would at least get a kick out of.... It could be, but does not have to be a Jewel item.... It could be a joke item like a half eaten grilled cheese sandwich with an imprint of.... oh, wait, that's already on Ebay. Really, just pick something up from your house. Remember though, there are fairly young people on this list, so your QWERTY items might not be the best choice. The cut-off date for joining will be 2359 (one minute before midnight) on 7 December. I will send you an email back with confirmation of your info. Then, the names will be drawn from the hat on 8 December. I will email each player with the name and address of the person they are sending a gift to. I need a reply back from you at that time telling me you got the info. It works best if everybody gets these sent off right away ... shipping method is up to you, the mail runs, or rather crawls at this time of year, so these gifts will probably be an after Christmas pick-me-up. Include a card if you want to ... let your receiver know who you are... A long letter would be better, get to know everyone! :-) When you get your gift, you need to let me know via email, and please post to the list to brag about what you received. It's neat when folks post telling us when they get their "goody" So ... who wants to play this year?
