Pummel them with chewed cuds? Mike, prolly the same ol' duck costume again this year. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Sep 2004 10:47:28 EDT From: Harrisbros@aol.com Subject: [EDA] NJC: Wild ponies chewing on the beanstalks... *** Alan (aka Mr. BB, keeper of the audio WooT) wrote: >Life is like a beanstalk. Isn't it? ;-) Dammit. He had to use that one, huh? That's a sore spot with me, ever since Alan sold me those friggin' magic beans (well, swapped 'em for my last cow, which resulted in my having to build another out of plywood, which is another series of stories)... arrrrgggg. I like to think the analogy is that there is no "silver bullet". No pill will make you thin without killing you, no surgery makes you a better person, nor does wearing someone elses' name on your shirt bring you any closer to them (how much would YOU really trust a stranger who has your name or picture on their shirt?). There are no magic beans, nor magic beanstalks that lead backstage to the castle where the object(s) of your desire reside. But, there is hope and good old normal beanstalks, which yield good old normal beans, which are tasty and generally healthy for you, although they can result in flattulence with some people. Let me stress the "hope" part -- we all have a minimum daily requirement for that particular item. Then again, Alan probably said "life is like a beanstalk" because that Gump fellow he looks up to already took "life is like a box of chocolates". He didn't say "magic" beanstalks (those are my words).. maybe Alan means that life really is like a beanstalk. Naw, he's just screwing with us. :-) But the guy is a wonderful repository of obscure music facts -- very few of us on this list would have ever heard the Flying Burrito Brothers, much less know that Jewel DOESN'T cover their songs. Speaking of obscure, my favorite obscure Jewel live cover is "Freebird". What's yours? Harris, now pulling his dutch auction supply of Jewel "Wild Horses" single CRDs off eBay... ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V9 #251 ***************************
