I think its a great mix... i have the setlist from my show so you have an idea of what the show is like. Mikey, you know I'll hang in ANY state with EDAs and good music playing... ;-) Any true Jewel fan located in CT/RI/MA who doesn't at least attempt to make this show absolutely has a screw loose! The odd thing about listening to Jewel and her cronies over the past eight years is that we often enjoy her "cronies" more than Jewel. Steve Poltz routinely steals the show when he opens for her, and he's also the type of guy who is a blast to be around as he always does the unexpected, and takes the time to actually be a friendly human being. He'll remember your name the next time he sees you, too. Best of all, you don't have to pay an extra $100 to stand behind a velvet rope in a cattle line for a half-*ss smile. Living Room Concerts are all about SHARING the music between the artist and the folks in the audience. After attending an LRC, the large, impersonal concerts at commercial venues are very difficult to take. LRC's are that much better. As Amy said, Steve is a nut (in a very good way). No one goes to a Poltz show and walks away unimpressed. Email me through this list or my email addy if you need details! (and I'll forward it to Sean, who is hosting the event Saturday at 5:45 in Canterbury, CT)... If there are any Poltzie fans out there, post your best Poltz story! - -- Dennis, trekking down Route 95 on Saturday morning ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Aug 2004 13:59:42 EDT From: GSBrumley@aol.com Subject: Re: [EDA] NJC: This LRC is a golden opportunity! My best Poltz story, huh...well, let's go back to Avon Lake, OH, this past spring... I FINALLY got to sing "Old Lovers House" with Steve. It was an all out Poltz week for me, I think I was at 4 or 5 shows in a row. Anyhow, the LRC was the last one, and it was awesome. So I was a bit stage shy, and some guy there kept handing me Vodka "shots." Not really shots cuz they were full cups of Vodka. So by the end of OLH I was totally SLOSHED out of my skull. I had to be taken outside. So when I'm outside on the porch trying to be tamed, Steve starts playing "I Thought I Saw You Last Night." I BURST in the front door and scream "I sang this in my high school variety show!" and promptly fell flat on my face in the foyer. Some girl by the bathroom almost wet herself I hear. The show the night before that was totally awesome, also. Steve played like 3 or 4 sets, I lost count. He got so drunk by the end of the night he was just laying on his back on the stage singing sideways into the microphone! And we got him to sing some songs he doesn't usually do. I got him to do "Satan's Choir" which is one of my faves. Oh, and a show in Dayton, OH, a little over a year ago, he brought Anya Marina along to open for him (She's AWESOME check her out!) he got pretty insane stripped down to his undies and sang a twenty minute long Billy Joel medley, and a made up "Satan's the Mayor of Dayton" song that kicked ass. LRCs are awesome, Steve just rocks the socks in general though. Somebody record and get me a copy, since I still haven't gotten my copy of the Avon Lake LRC with the "Thud Heard 'Round the World" when I fell over! If anyone has that, lemme know...!!! However, there is no information about that concert on her website and tickets have been on sale since 8/23. Does anyone know why there are no updatets about it? Also, has Jewel put together a new band yet, or will this be a continuation of her acoustic performances? I love her by herself, but it is always fun to see her with a band as well. Also, I don't think I ever got word of what the title "0304" stood for exactly. Does anybody know? Thanks everyone. Steve will remember your face, but he's not likely to remember your name unless a) he's met you several times or b) you're a hot chick. ;-) As far as my best Poltz story is concerned, ummm... I really don't think that would be appropriate to post here. Too many innocent young folk on the list these days. Let's just say that there was nudity involved. And possibly some mind-altering substances of some sort. :-D ...Frag _________________________________________________________________ Check out Election 2004 for up-to-date election news, plus voter tools and more! http://special.msn.com/msn/election2004.armx ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Aug 2004 14:20:23 -0500 From: "Rob Hanning" Subject: [EDA] RE: NJC: Some Poltz concessions... **Dennis wrote: **"That said, Steve is one lousy kisser." Okay, AND the "hot chick" theory. That said, Steve is one lousy kisser. (Hey, we were all drunk on Bourbon Street, it was 2 AM and I was trying to shock Derrick outta his freakin' homophobia! At least Derrick did hug Steve by the end of the night...) The Paradise Rock Club show in Boston was one of the strangest. Steve had a really bad "$5 Supercuts" haircut, and I've never seen him finish off so many tequilas. The night concluded with the management trying to persuade the Rugburns to leave the venue, and Steve defiantly lining up fans to spank him. That was, without a doubt, the most bizarre Poltz show I'm aware of. His last two LRCs at Ted's and his Austin gigs were much more "PG rated" (probably thanks to his yoga workouts).
