Hey all! I have just started a new job recently so I haven't had time to read much of the posts lately, so I apologize if this is old news.... Have you all seen Jewel's new commercial?? I was watching TV late late last night, I think it was during Leno or Conan O'Brien, and a commercial came on and BAM, there was Jewel on my TV talking about haircolor, and she kept saying "It's the sound of your voice", or something like that. I think it was Feria haircolor....remember the commercial Beyonce did a while back? It was the same commercial but with Jewel instead of Beyonce. She kept shaking her hair back and forth and saying "look how it shimmers". She looked really sexy in an all-white background wearing an all-white outfit and two other models flanked her but didn't say anything. Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there. Sorry if you've all been talking about it and I'm totally late on the bandwagon.... Talk to you later! - --Jennifer McBride from CA, USA www.sweetduration.com -- my band _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! My guess is that Madonna chose the kabala over the kookybaka because it didn't involve knowing how to rope a plywood cow. Jewel's handier with a lasso. cheers, Adrian (the kookybaka-pre-Madonna-lay-low-let-the-media-pistol-totin'wind-blow Angel) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Aug 2004 11:00:07 -0700 (PDT) From: Jessica Boyd Subject: Re: [EDA] JC: Joe Firstman talks about Jewel Yeah, I noticed the "pre-Madonna" thing too. I think he had probably never heard of the word or couldn't spell or something, because he misspelled some other words too. I'm sure he meant prima donna, though. But I don't think he was really trying to be insulting, because if you get past the prima donna comment, you'll read on to see that he thought she was really cool and that they get wasted together and that she's fun. I think it's just a guy thing. I've heard a lot of guys refer to certain girls as prima donnas, just because they're macho or something. I don't think Joe was calling her a bitch, because he likes her. Guess he just thought she was a bit of a princess who likes attention or something. I don't know. Just don't shoot the messenger. To each his own. Everybody has their own take on somebody and everybody has a right to their opinion. Hell, he knows her better than I do, so maybe she does like attention. Nothing wrong with that. She deserves all the attention she gets. She's great! Anyway, unless anybody knows her personally and hangs out with her, none of us know what she is truly like. Not that I care, though. I just love her music and her voice. I think she's the best thing out there right now. Anyway, the reason I even quoted that interview was to let everyone know that "Everything Reminds Me of You" was going to be on her next album. I think it's exciting! Jessica Sandy wrote: okay... well did the writer/editor just miss it, or did Joe actually mean "pre-Madonna" (like, before Madonna) as apposed to "prima donna"... the first doesn't make much sense, especially in the context, but I also don't really think of Jewel as coming across as a vain, conceited bitch (unless you miss the sarcasm or satire in alot of what she says & take it literally). ~ Sandy - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jessica Boyd" To: Sent: Saturday, August 07, 2004 1:06 PM Subject: [EDA] JC: Joe Firstman talks about Jewel > Hey guys, just thought you'd like to know I just read an interview with Joe Firstman and when asked about Jewel, this is what he had to say: > > " Jewel is cool! Shes more of a pre-Madonna. Before I went on tour, they said that shes not open at allshe doesnt hang outshe never drinksshe doesnt party. She mustve liked me manwe drank vodka every night. We would go to a bar and sing karaoke. I actually wrote a song for her. We did it in the encore every night. Shes gonna put it on her next record. She ended up being great. I mean shes a pre-Madonna no doubt about it, but we got along real well." > > Sounds like she's putting "Everything Reminds Me of You" on her next album. John News >> Entertainment Tall fans give Jewel the heebie-jeebies! Washington | August 08, 2004 5:15:38 PM IST Singer Jewel Kilcher has said that she hates being armpit height, because tall fans make her feel vulnerable and insecure, reports Rate the Music.com. The other day a tall fan of Jewel, who measures 5 feet 6 inches, loomed above her and put her head into his armpit. The 'Intuition' singer became so horrified that she started wearing heels to feel safer. "I'm armpit height. One admirer put my head under his arm and whispered, 'I've been wanting to get you in my chair'," Pagesix.com quoted Jewel as saying. "He then said, 'Let me explain... I'm a dentist'," she added. Just before playing the #2 song, they played Who Will Save Your Soul. I missed the intro to what they said, but after it played he said it was one of the biggest songs in America 8 years ago. I thought it was cool because it was the first time I listened to the radio in ages and Jewel and WWSYS of all things was playing. I know, I'm a loser, lol. Just thought I'd share.
