It's like #62 right now, so Jewel's clip should be on very soon. On another note... How the hell is Jewel's poetry (#52) worse than the Morton Downey Jr. Nazi attack fake-out (#68)?? I mean the dude shaved his head and drew a swastika on his own face BACKWARDS... lol Red Forman couldn't have said it any better... what a dumbass! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Apr 2004 23:02:35 -0700 From: "Melissa Bruce" Subject: Re: [EDA] grrrrr (now... well not anymore) Jewel on 100 Most Outrageous Celibrity Moments grr!!! they stopped at 61!! Subject: [EDA] report from Charlotte Concert... Remember Scott Evans? He used to post here a lot quite a while back... anyway he went to Jewel's concert in Charlotte and he wrote me an email about it that he wanted me to post to the list ... it sounds like it was AMAZING... Here it is: ok, make sure you forward this to the jewel list, because i can't ever get through to them. so i got to the venue and found my seats and they ended up being like 5 rows from the stage dead center. i was very very close. i think the best seat in the place because i wasn't so close that it was too loud and booming. perfect. her new opening act is GREAT. ryan cabrera. he's like chad michael murray singing jason mraz. i got his sampler cd and it's too produced, but live and acoustic he is amazing. i don't know how to discuss him because no on eis familiar with him, but you will be come june, when his debut comes out. i guarantee. he laced a dispatch song, 'the general,' into one of his songs, and i tapped him on the shoulder afterwards and told him "nice job with the dispatch song." he looked really excited and pleased and told me he didn't think anyone would get that. jewel. jewel jewel jewel. wowww. let me start with the most exciting moment of the night. after the first two songs, a guy requested satellite and she couldn't remember it, so i yelled the lyrics up to her and she started talking to me for a little bit. she kept forgetting the words, and the guy and i both yelled up the lyrics to keep her going. it was more me, and when i yelled up "YOGA CLASSES!" she said "i KNEW i could count on you!" ..it was so fantastic. i was beaming. we entertained the audience with that little bit. setlist = near you always passing time satellite down so long life uncommon new wild west hands 1000 miles away (AMAZING) break me 2 become 1 standing still stand intuition foolish games cold song wedding song (!) you were meant for me who will save your soul per la gloria "dulcimer song" (!) chime bells let me tell you. the new song she played in her encore using the dulcimer is the BEST song i have heard out of her in AGES. i honestly lost faith in her because, to me, her earliest songwriting and guitar work is by far the best, but this could stand up to that easily. 'wedding song,' also. the chorus talked about how when they first met she had fireworks in her mind, and ends with how they're still there. she told us that when she went on snl for spirit, it was honestly one of her most worn-out moments, her mariah carey moment, if you will. they offered her hosting duties, but she declined. and that's why she hasn't been invited back yet. the next album she's thinking will be more like poy, like a recent article said. but she added that she's thinking it'll be like 6 live and 6 studio. what an amazing night. if you haven't seen a full jewel concert in person, you have NO idea. scott ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Apr 2004 10:20:40 -0700 (PDT) From: Dell Minott Subject: [EDA] Backstage Passes Does anyone out there know how to get backstage passes without having to buy a ticket also? Having a backsatge pass is no guaranttee that you'd be able to see Jewel. Aside from the very structured meet and greet, Jewel will always be in her dressing room and gaining admittance to that is not going to happen. Even her walk from her dressing room to the stage is a very guarded affair that allows no time (nor desire) for her to stop and chat to a stranger. I'd much rather have front row seats where there is always the chance of some personal interaction. Ask Michiel how many times he's been on stage. Then ask him how many times he's been backstage. I guess my point is that you could have a backstage pass and the chances of spending time with or even seeing Jewel is miniscule. I don't think anyone is under that impression, I haven't seen anything posted on the list that seems otherwise. Plus, the person who you were replying to seemed to be talking about the "meet & greet" tickets, since they were asking if there was a way they could get the backstage passes *without* having to buy the whole package with the tickets. Also, I've never been backstage at a Jewel concert, but I have been backstage, and while the person/people aren't just sitting around waiting to talk to you, it's not quite as 'guarded' as you make it seem. Someone with an actual pass, rather than just the 'meet & greet' thing would probably have more of a chance to spend real time with Jewel... since the meet & greet is very official, like "here you go take a picture, here you go, get this signed, here you go, get out". ~ Sandy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 08 Apr 2004 01:52:47 +0000 From: "Amy Emerman" Subject: [EDA] NJC: Thank You & Spring Sha Sha Thank you to all of you who came to the Living Room show.
