If you could take two seconds and do me a huge favor, I'd be forever grateful. I made it onto the top fifteen for this competition to be able to audition for the broadway musical Rent. If you go to www.wannabeinrent.com (clever address ain't it?) then you can vote for moi, Stephanie Santos, and help my chances. I'm on the bottom second from the left -- it's a terrible picture, I know!! I'm so mad they used it! Anyway, click on my pic (blonde, curly hair, white shirt) and you can listen to me sing, then vote. I'd appreciate it so much. Have a great day! You may not like his "tooting his own horn" so much, but to suggest it's not costing him anything to maintain his site is obviously wrong. First off, only the simplest and smallest sites are free. Michiel is always posting up files for people to download, and as soon as you do that, you either can't use the free sites, or your page will only be viewable for a few hours each morning. 50,000 (50.000 if you're outside the US) is a lot of visitors if they're all grabbing megabytes of files. Secondly, he's not in the US, so his bandwidth costs are probably higher anyway. Even if he used a US based site, he has to upload them from the Netherlands, and high speed bandwidth isn't nearly as cheap there as it is here. If you like his site, he's invited you to make a donation to help with his costs. If you don't, you don't have to. It's really that simple. > Why donate? Except from the domain name registration it doesn't cost any > money. It costs only time and of course as Jewel's biggest fan you must be > more than willing to donate that time yourself. > > I don't see the point in giving Michiel money to keep up his site, I mean he > makes that site because he's a fan and not to make money... > > > >From: "michiel" > >To: > >Subject: [EDA] a question to donate for my site www.jewelkilcher.nl > >Date: Sat, 17 Jan 2004 16:56:55 +0100 > > > >Dear Jewelfans, > > > > > >Do you want to make a donation for my site to keep my site running. Michiel is doing us all a great favor and seeking donations to support his cause is not out of line. Donate if you like, but there's no need say its wrong to ask. How could anyone think his site costs him nothing?
