Also, I don't have much at all. I've sent out blanks and return postage and never received shows in return. I also had someone make a substitution without checking with me, so I ended up with a show I already had. - ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Jan 2004 02:38:52 -0600 From: Theresa Bolger Gubrud Subject: [EDA] Re: Idea??? Just thinking, a nice way to welcome someone to the list here would maybe be to each send a rare CD/show of jewel music to that person. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 Jan 2004 08:35:55 -0800 (PST) From: Patri Chicken Subject: [EDA] NJC: White Elephant and Weird Christmas Gifts Hey everyone, I got my White Elephant gift at least a week before Christmas, but I haven't had time to post. Jennifer, the "Maryland Angel" sent me two local newspapers with Jewel, as well as the Best Buy Bonus Christmas CD (Blue Christmas was just beautiful). She also gave moisturizer (which kind of "exploded", but she wrapped it well so it didn't get on anything else) and a strawberry candle. Am I forgetting anything Jennifer? I don't have a computer at home and I forgot to write everything down for myself for this post. I didn't get anything too weird for Christmas, though I did get a Q-ball. It's like an 8-ball, because you ask yes-or-no questions. But then you shake it and it speaks an answer. It has like 300 phrases programmed in. I gave my little sister an Easy-Bake Oven because she always wanted one and my Mom never got her one. My sister is 18, by the way. She was so excited, and her boyfriend couldn't wait to come over and bake! Hope your holidays went just as well. Happy New Year! ~Patricia Find out what made the Top Yahoo! Hey guys, Sorry to post again but there a few things I wanted to mention... JEWEL ON THE RADIO - A few weeks ago the DJ on one of the all-Christmas stations said something like "I'd like to hear someone cute, and I've got just the girl...Jewel." And then played Winter Wonderland. I thought it was a nice introduction. DIXIE CHICKS - Got the Home CD for Christmas, expecting to like it. I LOVED it. My eyes welled up at 2 songs (Travelin' Soldier, A Home) and tears were flowing for Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)! Plus I LMAO at White Trash Wedding. I was just wondering what you guys thought of it? I don't recall any posts about it, but I may have missed them. Any favorite tracks? Godspeed (Sweet Dreams) is definitely my favorite, it's a beautiful modern lullaby to a little boy. THE MOVIE "GIRL" - Has anyone seen this movie starring Dominique Swain? It's about a high school girl coming-of-age against the backdrop of the Portland music scene. She becomes obsessed with the lead singer of a semi-famous local band. Tara Reid, Summer Phoenix, and Selma Blair play her high school friends. The reason I bring it up is it kind of makes some statements about the music industry. Any comments? Again, have a happy HAPPY New Year! ~Patricia :-) Find out what made the Top Yahoo! First of all, I don't even have any rare shows, or any shows at all for that matter, myself. I have some unreleased stuff I've been able to download, but only single songs from who-knows-what show, and I've been on the list for a few years now. Truth of that matter is, anytime I try to contact someone about a show, (I've tried 3 or 4 different people just about the Toronto concert I went to for the This Way tour) they just tend to ignore my email, no matter how polite I am. I just wish people would reply & say they don't want to trade blanks & postage for shows instead of ignoring me altogether. I've even sent free mixes of CD's of all the random songs I have to people, and only one person ever bothered to tell me they actually got it & thank you. I know you don't do nice things to receive appreciation, but I just wanted to know people received it, but anyhow, that's going a little off topic. but first of all, there are hundreds of people on the list, so assuming each person can send something to someone new is assuming a lot! also, there are probably new people joining every day, & even if only 1 or 2 a week, I don't think anyone really would want to be mailing out packages each week to a person. It's definately a nice idea, but not really a feasible one. :) Having michiel post shows once in a while makes a little more sense, unfortunately for me it doesn't help one bit, since I can't access the forums even after using an old account & signing up for a new one...but it would be nice for the newcomers :) ~ Sandy - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kerri" To: Sent: Saturday, January 03, 2004 9:08 AM Subject: [EDA] Re: Idea??? > It's a nice idea, but costly. I got it for Christmas, and there is not one bad song on it at all. No matter what type of music you like, it's a good cd to listen to. She's one of the most eclectic artists ever! If you liked her first album, you'll definately like this one. It's folk, trip-hop, eastern, reggae,.... sounding. If you want to dl a song first b4 you get it, check out "Explode." love ya, shawney the hippie angel ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand!
