Subject: [EDA] other artists take on Jewel.... I don't really care what other people think about Jewel.... but I do think it's kinda classless to go around bashing other artists. I mean Michelle Branch is one of Jewel's contemporaries. If it weren't for artists like Jewel, Sheryl Crow, Sarah McLachlan and all those era of women... people like Michelle wouldn't have been given a shot in the industry. Michelle's entire career exists on the coattails of artists like Jewel. Same as Jewel's career exists on the coattails of artists like Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt etc.... you NEVER see Jewel going around bashing other artists, and particularly artists that paved the way for her own career. Michelle Branch should learn to keep her mouth shut... and so should John Mayer. Surely the music industry hasn't gotten THAT competitive that artists have to start bagging each other out now... I mean really. It's called class and grace... and Michelle Branch should go out and get some. She hasn't sold nearly enough records in her career to be so cocky. And she certainly has no right to insinuate that Jewel made 0304 to increase her sales when she's posing on the cover of Maxim with nothing but a leather strap covering her ass. Talk about a move to increase sales... Steve. PS - Elton John rocks... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Dec 2003 23:11:02 -0500 From: shawn e williams Subject: Re: [EDA] John Mayer on Jewel most unsingable chorus?? hmm, maybe b/c his voice sucks. sorry, I don't think his music sucks, but he's not that great. This show was attended by well over a hundred EDAs and a few of the songs she performed were re-performed ("OK, Jewel, lets do it again, and get it right this time d*mmit! 'O Little Town Of Bethlehem', take two! Action!"). This is one of the songs that was re-done that day and this particular performance of OLTOB has not been heard by the public since.
