Just wanting to let everyone know that my copy of "Chinese Vacation" came in from amazon.com last week and the whole cd is AMAZING, not only did steve put long time favorites like "Ten chances", and "Give you up for lent", but he has great newer songs like "Staxx" , and "You Remind Me", plus the ever pleasing "Chinese Vacation" I just cannot say anything bad about Steve's new baby cause its just so great, you can pick it up on amazon or you can go to Poltz.com and get it there along with a brand new T-shirt, a live concert dvd, and all his older cds that you should already have! p.s. he's parole officer by some slim twist of fate seems to be letting him tour so look on the touring page and if he's coming within a 500 mile radius of you make the pilgrimage and see him live, I cant promise anything but you may loose your mind/credit cards/heart/virginity/ or sense of touch and if you're lucky you may end up leaving the concert a broke senseless bastard who cant think or feel... these are things Jewel just cant aspire to ... and im not just saying all this cause Steve is gonna be here tomorrow night and i will get a pirate shaped cookie, i say these things cause i haven't took my medication polioboy bound Wes ~the Redstick Indigo Angel~ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Nov 2003 13:55:59 -0000 From: "Tom H" Subject: Re: [EDA] 2 Become 1 goes for adds...whooa <> You obviously missed the point of my post. I was simply stating that it would be nice if people on this list would try and introduce each other to some music that they won't have heard about a million times before. I have nothing against MTV - they make some interesting shows, and from time to time they even have some good music on. I just don't really appreciate being told that Jessica Simpson/Mandy Moore/Evanescence are great and we should all listen to them, when they've been in everyone's face enough at one time or another for all of us to have decided whether we like them or not. Why is it that every time you write something on this list that goes slightly against the grain, you have to back it up about a dozen times before people actually listen. Wes, I really enjoyed your 'Sugar Boogers' post in the midst of all this pop culture mess... We may all know about Steve Poltz, but his past involvements with Jewel make it sort of relevant - add on the fact that the post was original, and funny, rather than 'check out this song, it's great'. I think it will do well! But I also think they should have pushed Stand a little more, it hasn't been out for that long and they just gave up on it. I love Evanescence!!!!! I have already listened to the radio version of "My Immortal" on there website! I love that song, actually, there whole entire cd rocks! Not only did she recommend them, but she gave us a link to a song to hear what they sound like. Not everyone listens to top 40 music. I don't know any songs by Jessica Simpson, Christina or Evanescence. So I appreciated having a link to go and decide for myself if they are worth my time. Even if I had hated the song I still think it is great that it was posted. Now here's my own suggestion. Everyone should get Sarah McLachlan's new CD Afterglow. It is really good. Sounds like she never left, it is beautiful. Yes, I could have kept quiet, but I was just getting a bit sick of it all. <> Did I say that's all I want to hear about? My record collection features more than girl-with guitar bands. I'm proud to say that Justin Timberlake's album is great, and that I own records from Leftover Crack to Jurassic 5 to Junior Senior to Ash. I wasn't complaining about the type of music you were trying to make everyone listen to. It's just that we all have the chance to hear these artists on the radio, on MTV and at one time or another they've been plastered everywhere else. I just think it'd be more constructive for people to turn people on to artists that they may not have heard of yet. If you like Jewel you might like... OK... I'm NOT on drugs, but this band is like my favorite. Atom & His Package. Well *he* (cause technically there is no band, its just him and his QY700 synthesizer and his guitar). Right away I'm warning you this may offend some people, but don't let it offend you because it is just a SONG and he really is just looking for a laugh. He's a really nice down to earth guy (I've talked to him several times). I'd say 98% of his songs are sarcastic... so please don't get bent out of shape listening to it. This is just for a good laugh! K? : ) But ya he's really really funny... and oddly enough considered punk. He tours w/ underground punk bands. lol he's like weird al of punk so ya.... you *need* to have a sense of humor for his music, its like a punk sense of humor I guess, cause some of his songs could offend you, but they are just meant to be funny... so if you don't have one, delete this. NOW! : ) I really wanted to link you guys to a song called "Pumping Iron For Enya" cause it's just the best (it's so funny!!), but there are no links for that one. Look it up! Look up "Avenger" too, its about taking a bunch of people you don't like and throwing them into the middle of the ocean. Even his Theme song is funny. He's really entertaining... I'm not kidding, I really like A&HP.. I even collect some of his rare LP's. here's some links and a link to his website. It's just fun to read if you're bored. They even have a misheard lyrics page!! K here are the links: (Lord It's Hard to be Happy, When You're Not) Using the Metric System http://www.atomandhispackage.com/mp3s/metric.mp3 Happy Birthday Ralph (warning profane language, but his Hawaiian punch on tap tangent is funny) http://www.atomandhispackage.com/mp3s/ralph.mp3 Atom & His Package Theme Song http://www.atomandhispackage.com/mp3s/theme.mp3 Hats Off to Halford (w/ bonus commentary from Rob Halford himself about the song!) http://www.atomandhispackage.com/mp3s/halfordresponse.mp3 (Please don't let this song offend anyone.. its more of an anti-metal head's song than anything (which is completely sarcastic!!!) His website is: www.atomandhispackage.com if anyone cares to browse... it's quite funny... If anyone wants to hear Pumping Iron for Enya or any other songs, let me know and I will email them to you! Atom & His Package cracks me up. I Love that guy! Enjoy! Melee aka Atomspackette2 PS I'm j/k about the title of this post... A&HP is nothing like Jewel... well they both have a twisted sense of humor that's about the only thing they have in common : ) This post or any of these songs is not meant to offend anyone! Please don't leave harsh posts about this! I know A&HP may not be a lot of you EDA's out there - cup of tea! ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V8 #468 ***************************
