(possibly) Apparently Jewel was on some show Sunrise in Australia today or yesterday and she said that she's probably going to be coming to Australia in the new year... she said her "people" are trying to organise a tour right now. The fact that she's playing new zealand in February pretty much confirms that this will be happening... cause she wouldn't go to New Zealand for one gig if she weren't gonna cover Australia and New Zealand (and possibly parts of Asia) at the same time... it'd be a waste of flying all her stuff and musicians out there. It's quickly coming up to be over four months for me and I was just wondering what to do. Honestly, and this is bad to say, but at this point given the recent actions of the website I don't even really trust that they would be authentic. I am more than a little disillusioned that the website was shut down for weeks with no remarks of compensation (i.e., extend out your expiration) and then relauched with essentially no new material over previous verisons. The promises made just haven't been fulfilled in any meaningful way. Jewel's corner - blank, media - same stuff or snips of new songs, grab bag - buy seats today that ticketmaster will beat tomorrow in the public sale. And that's it since the original launch. To me, if they don't really want to do the unedited thing anymore (which is fine if it turned out to be more work than they thought) then give people their money back and call it quits. Well, Jewel just performed! Earlier in the show, she won an award for "Best Hook-Up Song" with Intuition. She modestly accepted it, said it was for Ty and thanked her label and for everyone who adopted her new sound. She shyly cracked that she always thought of herself as "a white girl Barry White," lol. She was great, I must say. She even played guitar, and sings the "that life brings" line slightly different now, and it sounds very cool. Its like she rolls the sound with her tongue in between "that life." It was a great performance, not her best performance of Stand (still can't beat Leno), but still very great, especially since she played guitar. It seems like lately shes coming more and more down to her feet again after the whirlwind of 0304. Shes kind of ditched the mini skirts thing now, wearing pants and long dresses, and tonight she looked amazing in a sleeveless (and shoulderless) top and JEANS (she wore a different outfit while accepting the award). She was very beautiful. Anyways, the old band members weren't there with her, it was a different band. But I'd like to optimistically enforce the fact that what we heard about the band a while back was just a single very short radio news blip, and we don't even know if that was true. It could very well still be too hard for them to perform since T-bone... who knows. In one interview (primetime I think) she quietly thought about it, and then said maybe she'll get a band back together again after a while, not immediately. And who knows... maybe the band and Jewel break up. It happens. But she did certainly pay her condolances and sympathy to T-bone... Maybe it just was not privately, but she did do it, by sadly dedicated WWSYS to him many times... Oh well. Remember, it doesn't change her lyrics, heart, sound, or mission. And tonight proved that. Lets not get into a huge debate over it all again. We know nothing at all on this matter, so its pointless and only makes you feel bad. Also, I think Jewel has been looking kind of down in recent appearances. It kinda seemed like it while accepting the award too. Who knows whats going on with her life right now, but shes been doing great. We love you, Jewel!
