Oh well! Poltzie was on WPLJ this morning in a live broadcast from Atlantic City. I missed the first part, but caught him doing Little Red Corvette, Waterfalls, YWMFM and a little bit of I Killed Walter Matthau (he wasn't tuned right for it but the DJ's had him do a little anyway because they think the song is great). So you folks with Jewel tickets for tonight are really lucky...you will most likely be treated to a few Poltz/Jewel duets! Now I wish I was going! (Leave yourself a lot of extra time if you're driving to AC as today is Rusha Home-a, I mean Rosh Hashana....and Happy New Year!) :-) Amy N. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 11:45:01 -0400 From: "Elizabeth Vickery" Subject: [EDA] AC Concert Hey guys, so I had tickets to see Jewel at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, but since the show was cancelled, I thought maybe I would try to get a ticket and go to AC tonight to see her there. I went to Ticketmaster to see if any tickets were available and I was absolutely SHOCKED at how expensive the tickets are for the concert! $60 and $80! Wow, I would have loved to have gone, but as a struggling college student with an apartment and in a sorority, I have little money for anything else! Anyway, hopefully she reschedules or something somewhere in Philadelphia at a good price! The effects are great... I think the shower scene is a bit much. I mean, she looks AMAZING, although not too natura/comfortablel. The main problem in my mind is that you can totally see she's wearing a towel...in the shower...? Also, I don't really think the video suits the song too much..it goes back and forth between gorgeousd Jewel singing or showering, and really blunt political bits...I think these could have been integrated better. Anyhoo, that's my opinion. :) Emily, Smitten Angel ps-I LOVE the image of Jewel lacing up her shoes with that linen-y dress! pps-anyone have any screenshots? Actually that was us that gave Jewel the star. The EDAs, mostly via Gerry Lipnowski's efforts in Canada, had a star named after her for her birthday in 1997. A web site showing the map was available at piecesofjewel.com, but that site no longer exists. I probably should contact Adam Longfellow for the html files and put the star back online. By the way, back then this was a relatively new thing (having a star named in the official registry). (Stand Video) Hey guys, Well, I can see a lot of people who haven't seen the video yet, and reading this list and getting kind of the wrong idea. And besides that, some people who saw it didn't get it. Well, I think it was there to contrast against the wholesome Jewel we saw in the video. The video reinforced the fact that she is still the same old Jewel, but shes still the sexy Jewel she was in Intuition. The video did sort of play out Jewel coming "home" into her apartment, taking off her jacket, and relaxing. Its normal for people to shower when they come home to relax as well (I just got home from my part-time job, and I just showered lol), so it wasn't extremely out of place. I think it also went along very well with the sound of the "You will love me/I will love you" bridge. And although it was extremely sexy, it was taseteful in the fact that we never ever more than a couple inches under her colar bone, not even any cleavage. And if you look closely at the bottom corner I think you can also kind of see that she was wearing a towel or something, covering up all of her chest. So yeah, thats why I think it was sexy, tasteful, and a good idea. She still wants to play the sex card, and did a great job with it. Sexiness is a very great thing when it leaves something to the imagination and it isn't skanky. There's a big difference between the two. Its not even a big deal. There are already many many music videos which feature a man or a woman showering or bathing, even for really wholesome songs and wholesome artists. (Stand Video) i guess what mainly just threw me off was the fact that, of course, she's always said in interviews that Intuition was complete tongue and cheek, and she wanted to play off the whole 'corruption of the music industry' by dressing J-Lo hoochie and what have you; but i thought THAT whole sexyness was just for the message she sends in Intuition; not Stand. To me, that scene totally killed the message in Stand. It's like 'lets make a stand against all the hatred and wrong in the world, but first let me show you my sexiness in the shower' lol. other then that, Jewel looks absolutely beautiful in the video :) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 20:01:16 EDT From: Lilgaleq@aol.com Subject: [EDA] concert a PPAC Is anyone going? I don't know how common or welcome introductions here are, but I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I originally joined the list in 1997, but after I got rid of my email address it was on (whenever that was), I never resubbed. So I am back. :) Although, I was fairly quiet back then, so I doubt I will be remembered by anyone. My name is Jessica. I'm a student at UT Knoxville, majoring in computer science. 21 years old. Been a Jewel fan since 1996 or 1997. I used to run the website Near You Always, but umm...it's way out of date. I don't think I can even remember my password to update it. Anyway, I went to the Jewel concert in Atlanta last Saturday, which is actually what reminded me about the list and prompted me to resub. It was a great show, and the first Jewel concert I've actually been to, besides when I saw her at Lilith Fair in 1997. I was sitting in the box seats, so I had a fairly clear view. It was a very touching and memorable show. I went by myself, and I just wish I had remembered this list before I went so I could have met up with some EDAs!! If anyone recorded the show, I'd be interested in getting a copy of it. Well, I guess that's about all. I just wanted to say hi to everyone and that it's good to be back!
