She is playing in DC on Monday night at the 9:30 club, which I can't wait for. I called in and actually won tickets to the private show!!! Ironically, the station broadcasts about 3 blocks from my house (I can see the building from my apartment)...which I didn't know until after I started giving the DJ my address and he informed me that I could literally walk over. So I guess this is the closest that I will ever get to having Jewel in my house, doing a living room tour :) I am really really excited about this, and will let you all know what she sings, and whether or not I get to talk to her at all after Tuesday's show. I also plan on giving a full review of Monday night's show. Well, I was just watching MadTV on fox, and all of a sudden, a familiar violin sound came on. Then the words on the bottom of the screen said in a countdown manor: Jewel Prostitution Far-From-Virgin Records Anyways, it started off with one of the shows actresses as "normal" jewel sitting a strumming guitar in very conservative clothes(long sleeved shirt, long brown ankle-length skirt), and then showing record execs pointing to big graphs showing Jewel album sales were down. Then it shows them on the street mauling Jewel over, leaving behind her in a bikini version of the yellow dress from VH1 Divas Duets. The lyrics were about her selling out, something like "this isnt muuuuus-ic, its prostituuuuuution" They really really emphasized on crooked teeth, and in the part where she goes "sell your sin" they had it go "Why can't they fix my teeth" and had a big closeup. Their portrayal of her teeth was NASTY. Big buck teeth with huge gaps. I can't remember much of what they said, besides comparing her to Christina Aguelera, dancing in front of the lights sign all skimpy and stuff. They did the advertisement parts as well, only had "Jeweljan Condoms" and "Jewelsicle" (the actress licking a popsicle in a very sexual way) and as she sang "they made me sell shavorssss" and did an ad of "Jewelette Razors." I really think there's some serious issues that we are totally unaware of. I don't mind waiting but when THEY are sitting on MY money, they really need to keep me "updated" and in the loop about what's going on. They can't really say "Were working hard to update the new site". Because after all this time, I know that's bull. There are other issues and I guess they feel that we are just not important enough to keep us in the loop. I LOVED the old unedited site for as little time as it was up.
